WOW Brett that is bad AZZ. If only people could have been there in person when we picked it up last fall, they would not believe it is the same car. Outstanding job. I will see it in person at the NCM in a couple of weeks. Then :cheers::cheers: time

Awesome Brett.
Looks good sitting next to certain 53's and 54's I know :) guys at the shop did a nice job. |
The door handles and door glass are now in. We installed the hood and adjusted the front bumper today. Now, onto the sanding and buffing tomorrow. The headlights will go in tomorrow, also. I need to get this thing home and detalied before next Wednesday.
Pretty dusty but I just had to take some pics with the hood installed. I worked pretty hard to get the panel fitment right. http://i51.tinypic.com/121wduu.jpg http://i54.tinypic.com/dpttaq.jpg http://i56.tinypic.com/1r51dt.jpg |
simply amazing job you are doing. It is fantastic that this great piece of Corvette history will now live on.
All of your hard work is worth it, well done |

Ever any talk from any magazines out there wanting to do a story on this? Rick This car is front-page awesome and it's story belongs in every Corvette magazine being published ! I just wonder which one will be first...... GREAT JOB Brett  |
Brett,
Looking Great!!! |
Thanks, guys. I had some good help.

|
I'm sure whenever you've been working on this car you have that vision of it when it was brand new way back then. And we all appreciate you bringing it back to life
|
This car is going to look awsum setting in the NCM next week. Bet I get to help get it inside and set up. Then Brett can help us load up the 53. Good trade off.
|
Way to go!!!
 |
Looking good! Would love to hear how you got the hood to fit, I have NEVER been able to get the corners of the hood to line up with the outside of the bumpers correctly!

I actually cut my own gap along the center part of the hood/bumper so the corners would be tighter at each end. I took out enough shims from the bumper and hood so they would be touching. That brought in the corners. I then cut the gap between the hood and bumper. Excellent fit at that point. Adjustment of the inner fenders is also a big part. The inner fenders control the fender part of the bumper cover. I shimmed and elongated some of the mounting holes until I was satisfied with the fit. All in all, I'm almost 100% happy with it. I'll tweak it some more after Bowling Green. |
Very, very cool. ZR-1s were my favorite car growing up. I'm hoping to bring my car to the NCRS Nationals in 2012. Maybe I'll see you there? I'll be the one with the red Corvette. :D
|
Finally got it home from being sanded and buffed. Emblems, headlights and windshield banner now in place. Only have to install the B pillar weatherstrip and it's ready for Bowling Green!:woohoo::woohoo:

Looking forward to seeing you again. WooHoo! Just a few days now! P. |
Bringing this 88 back to life was a fun ride. The mechanicals will be just as fun. When Tyler told me about the car, I just had to have it. Can't wait to get it running this summer.
See everyone in BG next Wednesday! |

They were only dirty and neglected, but did not have a back hoe run over them, then drop the bucket! Your car is very, very special! Especially to the ZR-1 crowd. Marty 1FUNZR1 |

Sure trumps the "barn find display" cars that were at Carlisle this year.

Thats F'N Awesome man.... AWESOME!!!!

I remember them having a blue prototype at Carlisle in 89. I remeber drooling over it and when we were leaving the fairgrounds it pulled out and front of us and did a really impressive burnout. I wonder how many prototypes were in blue. It was flat dash car and 88/89 wheels just like yours. I may even have an old picture of it somewhere.

I have to say Vette Daddy you sure do have skills to put that back together, well done sir.
I don't live to far from where all the testing of the KOH cars were done i am even aware of someone who worked on the suspension testing and on ocassion was allowed to drive on the public roads in East Anglia UK. The white one comes to mind in the picture at a friends near Wisbech. |
