just curious...
i'm going to be adding a Kenne Bell to my LS1 C5, and i just wonder why a top-mount only needs the single-valve can as opposed to the two-valve like the centrifugals & turbos. also, on that note, does that mean i can go ahead & install it before i get the blower on, or will i have to take it all apart & reroute stuff to install the blower?

Just got mine. Only question before I install this is, was the bracket that holds the catch can suppose to come with a bolt to use to mount the bracket to the head? If so mine did not come with one :(

The top mount SC's are an integrated unit that the blower & intake manifold form one integrated unit so the vacuum source does not become pressurized uner boost like a turbo or front mount would because they use the intake manifold. Yes you can install it now and simply switch the hose routing when you go KB.
Yes it should have. It is a Metric standard thread, M8 or M10 (cant remember right now.) App. .20cents from any hardware store. Our appologies. |
|
Do you have to tap into both intake pipes for twin turbo setup or can you just use one for the fresh air source?

i saw on the website you have purple. does anybody have a pic of one in this color?
|
My catch can came in yesterday. It appears to be of great quality and appearance. I can't wait to get this thing on my new setup. It looks like it will catch a ton of oil. It's huge! :D
|
The larger the more effective as it allows the flow to slow enough for the oil droplets to fall out of suspension w/out being "pulled through" like the smaller ones.
|
where does the breather go? does it take place of the oil cap? That's what it looks like.
|
Yes it does. It has an integrated checkvalve to help prevent fumes from escaping into the engine compartment.
|
Do u hv dual catch can in black in stock rdy to ship ?
|
A&a sc kit
When ordering the dual valve can do I need to specify it's for the A&A kit yet or will need to modify the bracket still? Just curious. Looking at getting the polished version so I'm guess I'll receive it in about a week? Not only does this product look good, will serve a purpose!:yesnod: I swapped intakes earlier and was amazed with how much oil was in there!
|
I have your dual catch can installed on my centri setup
I just checked my catch can and there was no oil in it, I installed it about 1000 miles ago and have been driving moderately hard. Is there a special method to draining it besides opening the valve on the bottom? Could my issue be that its mounted where my battery used to be? |
Make sure the drain valve has been closed (the threads all the way out when you look at it) and if possible can you post some close up pics of the hose routing? When draining, have the motor hot and not running. Open the drain so the threads are all the way in and not visable. It takes app 5 minutes to drain properly.

Bat Car, I am installing the dual valve catch can on a C6 Z06. Should I tee the fresh air from the can into the existing line from the s/c inlet to the dry sump? I am assuming then the crankase connection goes to the valley nipple. The connection to the intake(vacuum source) is understood.
Thanks for any help:crazy2: |
PM me your email & I will send the master diagram file and you can share pictures so I can better guide you.

I would like to order a oil filter breather cap with check valve built in.. where can I do that?

CNC Ported Throttle Body Dynographs - 2010 Chevrolet Corvette GS
http://www.facebook.com/media/set/?s...8.290698632469
http://www.facebook.com/media/set/?s...15.36075534753 Both these links are off our Facebook Fan Pages, please do "Like" them. TIA. I've uploaded dynographs of our CNC ported TB on a 2010 Chevrolet Corvette GS A6 that is completely stock with 1200 miles on the clock. The first set will show the temperature that day taken from an iPhone and then the two back to back runs with A/F without the ported TB. The second set will show the temperature that day taken from an iPhone and then the two back to back runs with A/F with the ported TB. The car was driven after the ported TB was put in for about 5 miles before dynoing it today. The HP/TQ gain is low compared to others that have dynoed with our same ported TB but the result was still very positive as the goal is to provide upper more crisp throttle response in the mid and upper RPMS. Note all cars are different due to mileage, etc. etc. so your gains will be more or less. If you have questions, please do ask. You can purchased these CNC ported TBs here ... http://www.byunspeed.com/index.php?manufacturers_id=501 |
Ive got a stock question about something other than catch cans. :D Do you guys have the prothane motion 10mm six shooters in stock?
|
Do the throttle bodies come with the electronics?
|
Twovalve....pretty sure we do, but call or email Young directly (I do tech support, not the sales) at: BYUNSPEED@aol.com
Gidy, All except the LS1/6. On them you simply swap your TPS & acuator motor from your stock unit when you recieve the VMax CNC unit. Every other TB has it all integrated into the TB. |
Got it. Thanks!
|
I placed my order on 8/4 and was wondering when my three way catch can and filter will be shipping?
Invoice # 11-14649 Aug 04, 2011 I thought I read that orders take about a week to make up and ship? Thanks |
Should go out today....just out of the hospital from surgery and the recovery has been rough.
Our appologies! |

Do these come with all hoses needed to connect? Are there any installation guides for a ls1 with a vortech A&A SC? Is there a special bracket needed to install with my SC aside from the bracket that is welded on?
|
I emailed you about this. How much for just the bracket to mount that would install on an A&A Vortech bracket?

Are the brackets welded on or should it have come with a second piece. I see a welded bracket but not sure if that is it.
|
Does anyone have any clear pictures of the three line can installed with an A&A with labels on where the lines go?

You still have not answered my question about the bracket or mine and dreamscometrue question about install instructions. It's like pulling teeth with you guys for information. Why is that? I have pmd you about this and have even tried to email you about it. So far I have no concrete answer on the bracket or the install manual.
|
Post up your order number so we can look up which can and bracket you bought. Thanks.
|
I explained to Colorado Speed in email and also on this post as well as another post I had created earlier that I purchased the can new but from a forum member. I have sent you pictures of it via email but can send another email with pics if necessary.

Are you telling me you can't sell me a bracket for my A&A SC kit on a catch can that you guys sell? I explained to you guys several times that the seller misplaced the bracket. This is a lot of hassle over a piece of metal. I can't understand your customer service techniques.
I am not asking you to give me the bracket for free, simply tell me a cost shipped. |

I haven't placed an order from you yet. There has been a lot of metion of install on a C5 with an A&A but I haven't seen any pictures. There doesn't seem to be a lot of room next to the supercharger and I wanted to see installed pictures of this and descriptions of where the lines go.
thanks! |
Placed my order on Wednesday. Great information source on this system and good solution.

CLICK >>> RX Performance Single & Dual Valve Oil Catch Cans <<< CLICK The RX can is the only unit available that has integrated positive closing poly check valves & self regulates the amount of flow eliminating oil pull-through during deceleration from WOT runs. The cans are nearly 1 qt capacity, have a unique disc baffling system and perforated dispersion tube to ensure the vapors not only cool quickly to droplets, but the large separation chamber allows the flow to slow enough for the droplets to fall out of suspension trapping it before the vapors travel a final passes through a separate exit chamber and out the integrated checkvalve. The dual valve unit is the ONLY one on the market that ensures continuous crankcase evacuation no matter what the operating mode. In boost or not, the dual valve unit detects the moment the intake manifold becomes pressurized closes preventing the boost from pressurizing the crankcase, and opens the valve allowing the FI head unit inlet to provide the vacuum needed for continuous evacuation. Remote drain tube makes emptying simple & mess free. Optional breathered oil fill cap with built in oneway check valve. Available in most popular GM colors or polished aluminum. RX Performance "MONSTER" Stage II Oil Catch Can http://www.coloradospeed.com/images/.../RXPMSIICC.jpg The RX "MONSTER" oil catch can is for the huge boost built applications and works unreal well at providing proper crankcase evacuation under boost and non-boost operation AND separates all or nearly all detectable oil from the vapors. This catch can is large and not for the average street build, 4" wide x 7.5" high with triple baffleing and good to 1200 HP turbo or front mount SC. This is the ONLY one that provides proper crankcase evacuation and oil separation during both boost & non-boost applications. Do it right and avoid the blown seals & oil mist all over your engine compartments as well as the long term accelerated wear to your engine internals by NOT evacuating properly. Can someone PM me exactly what I need, and the pricing for a catch can setup for a ls7 427 NA in a c5? I used the ls1 valve covers from the previous engine, and it has a Fast 102 on it.

Come on guys, don't make it difficult. Correct your statements. Everyone and anyone who has placed an order has been notified whether there is a delay with any orders.
I highly doubt anyone would wait 1-2 weeks on an order and not question it all this time and then jump on a bulletin board and post about it. Here's your reply Keith "No problem, The car wont be out of storage for at least 2 more months maybe 1 if im realllly lucky..LOL gotta love NY" Seriously, no emails or word about it? |

I have been reading through most posts in this thread. I have a 418ci LS3 going in my car....hopefully within the next 2 months. Would i be better off going with the RX can over the Elite? Also, sicne i drive an 01ZO6, im a little confused on what year model to purchase. I will be using my valve covers but im pretty sure the valley cover on the LS3 is the LS2? Ahhh help:willy:

I wanted to order a catch can for my Z06 due to the fact I had a few questions before ordering. I called Elite Engeneering and left a voice mail requesting a return call. The following day I finally received a return call, however I missed the call because I was right in the middle of something at work and unfortunately couldn't answer the phone. Since then I have left three voice mails and two emails with no reply to either the voice mails or emails I sent over the last three days. Now it's the weekend so I'm sure I won't hear anything till Monday if I hear anything at all. This is pretty poor customer service if you ask me. Ridiculous and frustrating for sure. I'll be looking at alternatives and more than likely ordering with another manufacture this weekend. It seems Elite has no time for me! Thanks for nothing.
|
It actually has nothing to do with Cospeed. I apologize if it seemed that I was angry with you guys because that is not the case. I should have posted somewhere else. My apologies. I see you guys carry the RX cans. I may order one of those after I read up a bit more on them. My car N/A.

Installed mine. Good quality product.
Question: what fitting size would I need to put a permanent adapter on the drain hole? I'm thinking an adapter to a stainless line with a termination akin to my blower oil change line. |
