Trying to install 4.1 ring and pinion

Hey I have been extremely interested in switching out my 3.42 for the 4.1 R&P. But my only problem is I cannot find a place that would be able to install it. I live in the Atlanta region in Georgia, and I was wondering if anyone knew any good shops that would be able to install it. I have called a shop and they told me they need to remove my entire assembly and replace it with theirs which is already built with a 4.1. They gave me a price of 1900-2000. Also saying they cannot just switch out the rear end R&P just like that because they have to remove the assembly anyway so the price would be the same.

If anyone could help me find a shop in the Atlanta region, or not too far, that would be able to switch out the R&P for a reasonable price I would greatly appreciate it.

I have heard of people switching out the R&P for 500, is this true or are the shops trying to make money off me? What are you guys paying for the entire change in the c5?

I was quoted $500 in labor to switch out the pumpkin.

So would be more if you wanted to rebuild it also.

Here is what you can do, take your vette to a mechanic, he just have to remove your Rear end, and send the rear end pumpkin only to Ragtopws6 in PA, for the 4.10 to be installed and at the same time if you wish can also install like C6 Z06 side output shaft, HD clutch pack, Cross pin from RPM, and ofcourse seals, and let him ship back to you, and followed by install by your mechanic, in this case your mechanic need to bare with your vehicle for few days, not sure anyone will do that.
Second option buy the whole pumkin from rpmtransmissions stage II or from zip corvette:

If you not doing your own install than it sure cost you in that range 1700-2000

Talk to Rockland or DTE and get one of their rear ends. Most of those places just get their rear ends from those places and resell them. The mark-up is HIGH!!!

YES,,,, you have to remove the rear end. You cant just open and pop in some gears. Much labor will be involved.

The C5/C6 rear end requires very special tools to set up the ring and pinion properly. Without the tools, it most likely wont work properly. Heres a couple of very excellent post to give you a little inside on the insides. ;)

Call George at Rockland Transmissions and see what he can do for you on a rear end.

If George cant help you call DTE and speak with Phil.

The author of the RAGTOPWS6 post is another differential GOD but I can not speak for his availability to do a rear-end for you. You would have to contact him personally.
