FGregg Racing / Fixed Headlight Options

Is FGregg not around anymore?
Email address got bounced back and phone number rings back as disconnected.

www.fgreggracing.com

Was looking at their fixed headlight conversion for C3 vettes, but unfortunately I don't think I'll be able to get one.

Are there any other comparably priced sources for fixed headlights on a 1972?

I'm planning on making my own headlight buckets. As for the lenses, well, I will be making those as well...I'm not a rich guy and can't afford the ones from fgregg.

cottoneg 10-11-2010 01:13 PM

Too bad, I wanted to order his front spoiler. However, the fixed headlight conversion for
C3 Corvettes is available from Guldstrand:

Are you going to make flat covers or double hump road race style? If you go for the road race style, I bet you will have a few customers, including me.

I am making the double hump ones. I have a "connection" for a perfect female mold. Keep checking my restoration thread...there will eventually be a posting showing how I am making them.

Saw this thread and wanted to post a response. Both Gulstrand and I buy these headlight kits and parts from Frank Griegorian but somehow he fell off the face of the Earth. After repeated attempts to contact him, I have decided to remanufacture these in quantity since I need them for my stable of race cars. The lenses in particular are used up in racing and have to be replaced. I have identified a number of changes in the manufacturing process to lower the cost of the parts and make them more affordable. Give me a month or two and I will have them available for sale. Contact me at jim@vintageexotics.com for more details if interested.

I ordered a set of headlights from this guy on ebay about a year ago. I'll have to say he's an honest and straight up guy to work with. I'm sure what ever he comes up with will be top of the line. Check out his website, cool cars.

Thanks Scott ! This is not my main means of making money but it is starting to turn into a business for sure. I also have a few of the spoilers and AIR wiper covers for sale as well. I paid for Frank's mold on the spoilers so if I can somehow get a hold of him again ... I will make them in composite. In fact I have a WHOLE LOT of body molds for the C3 including front, rear clip, doors, IMSA front ends, IMSA doors and so on and am thinking about making these in graphit composite gel coated to look like fiberglass - only 1/2-1/3 the weight. I have a 69 coupe race car that might be my first experiment on this ... stay tuned.

That's funny. $800 for that without the lights

Plan on making spoilers also? With the car so low to the ground, they have to be considered a disposable part.

I am planning on reproducing the light kits (lenses, brackets and backing plates), the spoilers, AIR wiper arm covers and a lot of the other fiberglass pieces unique to the C3 race cars. I have spoilers and AIR wiper covers if anyone wants them - contact me offline. Here are some pictures of the lights. I don't want to be confused with being a vendor here - I am just trying to reproduce the parts to keep these guys alive.

Count me in for a bunch of our products.

bstbrgr 10-31-2010 12:43 PM

Hi Jim*

Just read your thread. I have a set of original GM over the counter buckets and light brackets. Dated 1968. I bought these in the mid 70's at Bloomington ( think it was 1974). You can see the original bends, welds and size/placement of the holes to make perfect repros.*

Thank you for the pics!

Have a set myself and that pic helped tons!

Subscribed for updates too.

I need these covers and backing plates too. Let us know what you are going to do Jim.

Thanks

I also sent Jim an email. Let me know if you hear anything.

Lights status

Hi guys. Just wanted to let you know that I found some good vendors who can laser cut the material and CNC bend the brackets for me (turned out to be only a few blocks from my shop !) and am having them done. The Lexan covers are a little harder but think that I have found the solution. I should be shipping new sets in January. Interested parties please email me at jim@vintageexotics.com. Thanks and I appreicate all of your interest. Its good to keep these things going !

SargeZ06 12-12-2010 01:00 PM

Yeah don't let these things die. Here is my project car. Car was formerly a Eckler widebody.

Funny but something else that has come along is that I have the molds for the Greenwood panels, the L88 flares and a lot of Corvette bodies. I am still trying to figure out if there is a good reason to reproduce these parts - there seems to be a good supply out there. I do plan on keeping the molds and perhaps will experiment with carbon fiber parts. I do that for my Shelby CanAm and what a difference in weight it makes !

SargeZ06 12-12-2010 01:18 PM

Greenwood huh? Well my Dad passed earlier this year and left me his 76' Sebring GT that was used by John Greenwood in his magazine article advertising the Sebring package. I have 1012-76. Plaque is still on it.

1012-76 Sebring GT

Taijutsu 12-12-2010 01:56 PM

I don't need anything that exotic. lol
I have the same headlights as SargeZ06. I think some flat covers that fasten properly would work. I have seen them elsewhere, can't remember when?

R

Vintage Exotics 12-12-2010 02:10 PM

Nice Greenwood GT. Not sure where these molds originally came from but I ended up with them and they are actually still in pretty good shape. They have a fuller door than the Greenwood GT doors and have a complete door panel replacement. They may have been molded off some race parts. I have not spent enough time researching that stuff yet to get an accurate read on it. I had them sitting out in the back of my shop until last week when I intercepted an attempted theft. I moved them inside ...

TPI BOY 12-12-2010 02:56 PM

Any pricing yet

Vintage Exotics 12-12-2010 11:03 PM

No pricing yet but it won't be any more than Frank charged for his from what I am seeing. I am trying to lower the price per unit but will have to get a few more things lined up before I know. I guess that the nice thing is that they won't be made in China ! In any case, I will let you guys know.

ylose 12-13-2010 10:32 AM

I'm in for some of the buckets and covers.

73C34me 12-13-2010 01:02 PM

Definitely. Need the light set up with covers

Jim, great to see that these finally made it out! Look for an order from me in the near future.
They look great.

Hey Jim,

Are your body molds of the ACI American Racer IV or V?

Looks like this in c/f...

http://i158.photobucket.com/albums/t...0x600Q85-1.jpg

I'd be interested in one "down the road" (still recovering from the big D)

My molds look more like Greenwood molds than these. I am going to have my guys at the shop run some fiberglass into the molds and make a pair for one of my cars. I will post pics of it.

Sorry to hear about the big D - went through that once as well. It gets better. Married a wonderful woman who is as excited about cars as I am. Talk about a lucky guy !

They are a good company and great to deal with but make sure you check the fitment of those because mine wouldn't fit without cutting the hell out of them. So much so a friend and I just built our own. Still got them around here somewhere and yes while the company was polite and set me a dozen pictures of how they installed them on different cars mine still didn't fit, still got the pictures. Just check them

There is a guy here in reno that likes greenwood cars and kits and I think he still has a couple. I in years past worked on the 75 car for the Monterrey Historics
