My XM bands just disappeared! Any ideas?
The XM1 and XM2 bands just disappeared off of my head-unit (2007 model year). I only get FM1, FM2 and AM when I cycle through with the band button. I installed a USA Spec PA11-Vette iPod adapter over 2 years ago and it has worked great until this past Monday. At the same time that I noticed the XM bands were missing, I also noticed that my FM presets were gone. Possible battery issue? Why would the bands just disappear? It just figures that my car is exactly 3 years old and just went out of warranty!
Any ideas? Of course, I will check for loose connections, but I thought that I would check real quick with you guys to see if there is something that is "known" that I should be aware of. Thanks!! |
Just keep hitting the band button or turn the radio off for a minute.Did that to me last week, and it wasn't the 1st time.

The most common cause of the XM bands completely disappearing is due to the connector coming loose at the XM module. If your car is a coupe the XM module is located over the driver's side wheel well behind the carpet. If it is a convertible it is located inside the waterfall cover behind the center console. Should be an easy fix.

Excellent. I'll give it a try. Thanks for the tips guys!

Talon 90 beat me to the punch...as usual, but he's right, I've gone through this problem trying to install a PAL unit. Find the bad/loose connection and they should come right back.

I've had the same thing happen to my Hummer as well. I just unplug the battery for about 30 minutes and when I reconnect the batter my bands are usually back. Try that if nothing else works.

UPDATE: I checked all of the connections and everything looked fine. I decided to pull the PA11 unit and plug everything back to factory. My XM bands returned. So, I reinstalled the PA11 and everything works just fine now. Go figure. Must be a bad connection. Hopefully, it will not be a consistent problem.
Thanks for the tips guys. |
