How much do you want to spend Alex? 57's are very pricy and those that have their original motors are very expensive.
Let me know ........I know of two that are for sale.

jimgessner, you've got mail:)

I can't believe that one on eBay is going for that much. I'd think maybe $12K for it in the condition it's in but then again all of the parts it comes with makes up for some of the rest of the cost. $17 is too rich for my blood right now, I wouldn't pay that much for that car anyway.

I don't know what your expectation is, but the car on E-bay looks like its worth every bit of $17k :yesnod:

I wish that I could buy the car on eBay. But the timing is bad. I also have been looking for a project 57. I was born in 57 and feel the need to have one. Most of them that I have seen are fully restored and out of my price range. Good Luck!

17200 was a great price for that car. anything cheaper wont have the origional motor.

Exactly, I don't need the original motor and any motor at all for that matter. It would be nice but it's not in my price range right now....

I have a fair car. 57 black / red fuel injection , 4 speed, vin # 3806. Hard top. Car was originally copper and was supposed to by the racer of Cloyd Gray and raced at the very first SCCA Laguna Seca race in November 1957.

Runs and drives Ok, has a 548 block but probably not orginal. Asking $45000..........but I think he will take in the $30's.

See, there just are no 1957 Corvettes out there in the $12-15k range that are worth anything. But this could be a very nice car if you restore it. That is why nice ones are selling for $75000 to $85000.

Re: Wanted: 1957 Corvette Project Car (jimgessner)

My friend has a 57 in his barn. Car has been sitting there since late 60s - is actually his fathers. Car is about 99% intact - missing radiator. I offered him $20k for it. He said maybe. I'd have to sell my 71 and nix the new HD, but figure it's worth it. So 17k for a restorable 57 seems a reasonable price.

Had a chance to buy a beautiful 65 396 convertable - baby blue, White top, Crager SS with big Mickey Thompsons, I think sidepipes too - real quick. I think 425hp, for $2900 when i was in navy in SanDiego 1974 - didn't buy it.

Had a chance to buy a 54 for $1400 - very poor shape tho - when I got out of the Navy in 1974 - didn't buy it.

Next car will prolly be 64-67 convertable with big block.

Sorry to ramble on.

later folks,
Mixtli
