Ive always wanted to get them but I'm too cheap.

Ive owned 2 C5s, may own a 3rd shortly. Probably should have had it done on the second one. It was an '04 with 12,000 miles on it. Sold it for more than I paid for it so I let it go.

I agree... I do what I like to my car. I don't drive it or build it for others. I don't care if you look at the car or not and I surely don't care what the haters have to say or think. I like the idea of seeing everyone's different take on how they think the car looks best with their INDIVIDUAL TASTES! I have learned quite a bit from speaking to other Corvette owner's. That's what makes it fun...next to driving the car.

If the point of your car (in your eyes) is about drawing attention and going to car shows then go for it. There is all sorts of custom stuff that looks like pure crap until you put it in context of a show.

It is 2 very distinct schools of thought. I build my cars to what I want and honestly couldn't care less if anybody else ever took a second look. Things like Lambo doors are almost completely for what other people think, unless of course you just like to stare at your car with the doors open. If that's what you want then go for it. People tend to be either one way or the other.

On a side note, To you guys saying $3k+ for a set of these. I can't imagine spending that much money for something so simple. How much does it cost to R&D and build hinges??? I guarantee that it isn't even a small percentage of that. I'm jealous of the companies turning about a 2000% profit on this stuff. :cool:

This really is a stupid debate if you think about it.

If you like them... you like them. It's your car so do what you want.

If you don't... you don't. You guys keep posting all the pictures you want. It isn't going to change anyone's mind.

Posting more and more pictures of the same thing to try to change someone's mind is a lot like having an argument and saying the exact same thing louder. Yea, that's going to work.

I don't get the haters. Yes we all have an opinion but saying it's gay, :rolleyes: that's disrespectful to those that have and love them! I think "Lambo" style doors are fine. I bet Lamborghini got their inspiration from the old IMSA GTP cars that have vertical lift doors. Yes the old Corvette GTP had them, so are they gay?? :crazy: JMO If it made it easier to get in and out of my DD then I'd get them. To those that have them, is it really hard to get in and out?

Personally I'm only interested in mods that make the car perform better in some way. Lambo doors, flames, and excessive chrome are not really my cup of tea, but if you like it, go for it. Ignore other peoples opinions. If you like it, that's all that matters :)

I have only seen a few kits installed and the thing I didn't like is that the door when opened up normally it really didn't open very far at all, Is this the same for all kits?

As I stated earlier. I don't care what another person thinks about my car. I like changing the stock appearance and performance of my cars. There are many things I like and many I don't, but I don't go on a forum and bad mouth the persons choice. If I don't like it I don't respond to the thread and if I do I try and use a little respect. It has nothing to do about what other people like. I want my car to look good to me and perform well. My car is supercharged and built well with the best parts available, but like many on here I would love to have more power and change things. I love the fact that a lot of good people share their customizing tips. I love the fabrication people come up with too. Saying someone wants others to look at their lambo doors is the only reason they do it shows how narrow minded they are. I did it because I saw them on other Corvettes and liked them. I like the doors on Lambos also, but if the doors did not look good to me I would not have done it. It had absolutely nothing to do with anyone, but me. I think people who start the negative comments just like to stir people up and see what response they can get out of them. I hope that makes them feel better about themselves. All I know, and I am sure most feel the same, is upgrading or changing cars from stock is fun and rewarding in many ways. If others appreciate your work then that's great, and if they don't, that's fine too. I'm just having fun!!!!

Looks ridiculous IMO. Most guys do laugh at them, but it is not my money. If you like it, go with the doors.

if you like them good for you, the reason people do exterior mods is to impress others and there is nothing wrong with that, i have an 09 Challenger and the attention it draws is half the enjoyment of this car. I have read the replies to your question, other than a few, most on this forum can't wait to jump all over others with valid questions. Ignore most of what you have read on this, or any subject and do what you want. Just remember, the further you stray from factory orig., the less it is worth in the long run, if that matters to you. Have fun

While I personally don't care for them, I just noticed how easy they make it to clean the bottom of the doors......... :thumbs:
