Not at all, the slot doesn't have to be cut very close to the mounting points, only the centre 6-8 inches of the bucket.

Not that I had any objective way to measure, but I'm sure the stock seat was at least an inch lower than the Caravaggio. After cutting the slot it felt like I got most of that inch back but still not all of it, hence why I changed the seat cushion.

Of course if a person doesn't normally run their stock seat at the very lowest position none of this will be of concern.

My lumbar support modification is what made the Caravaggio better than the stock seat for long drives.

Cheers, Paul.

Makes sense... thanks

Nice write-up. Now John can give his customers a reference to a decent write-up.

More pics of the harness setup :D

Thanks

Thanks for the great write up.

I used Dreamin's directions and the job was a lot easier than if I only had the instructions from Caravaggio..

I just have the last step left...... I'm busy looking for the "snug your belt girl" :D

You guys are all off base. The "model" is not there to test the seat or the belts. You're all missing the fact that the Caravaggio seats, contrary to earlier reports, are in fact HEATED seats!
Oh, and by the way this excellent report is absurdly timely, since my Caravaggio seat is en route as we speak, and goes into my Z on Monday. I can't wait.

Yea, I have reinstalled my seat several times now and the girl never appears so I can't sinch up my shoulder straps correctly :)

I think I got ripped off :toetap:

First of all great writeup/install instructions, but I wish I had read this before buying one of these seats.:ack: I don't want to cannibalize my stock seat and I'm sure getting the necessary parts to keep from doing that is pretty pricey. I have to figure out what I want to do now. I may just sell this seat it's still in the shipping box. http://www.audizine.com/forum/images...s/wrenchin.gif

Yea but those seats look so much better than the stock seat. If I could justify the cost, I would do this one in a heartbeat...

I was just scrolling through and was admiring how much work you spent and then ... I started drooling.

:iagree:

Any weight savings?

MTIRC6Z 09-28-2010 08:24 AM

Pretty close to 30 lbs for the pair, at least that's what it was 3 years ago when I got some.

Interestingly I had an argument with a local guy who had a pair and said they didn't save any weight...then I realised he had a C5Z, only explanation I could come up with.

Cheers, Paul.

This is a good DIY. Very detailed with great results.

EdsC6Z06 09-28-2010 11:47 AM

No wonder it took over 4 hours. With her around to distract me I'd never get anything done! Nice! Seat's ok too.

NORTY 09-28-2010 01:26 PM

This should go into the "how to" section for Corvettes. Or, at least a sticky. (Maybe without all the girl accolades.)

If I wanna see girls, I'll go to LABS!

This is the best write up i've ever seen, all should be like this sir.

Thank you so much for your time in doing this write up for us. I just installed a seat today and besides a few differences from years mine being an 05 it was right on and helped a ton!!!
