Is fiberglass flammable???

http://www.hotrodsetc.net/efi%20flame%20thrower.html

FYI- I am not even considering this, but it looks hilarious. I esp liked the part about not being reccomended for side pipes!!!

Not very.......if you left it in a flame long enough, it would eventually melt down to next to nothing, but I've never seen any burst into flames with minimal contact with an open heat source or flame.

Maybe if you did this to it http://www.3dpcgame.com/cwm/s/otn/violent/torch.gif

I actually think those are pretty cool. We used to see that alot with street rods and customs. Fiberglass is not flammable but like practically anything else it will disintigrate with enough heat.

Re: Is fiberglass flammable??? (Shrike)

Fiberglass by itself is an insulator. It's the resins and other composits that give it that oh so nice burn to the ground potential. Remember, travel without a fire extinguisher at your peril.

Oh, and I agree...not something I would want on a 'Vette, unless you get one of those rare steel-bodied cars that guys mention while you're putting gas in your car. :)

lmao!
I just dont like the idea of open flame right next to my gas tank.
Maybe I can talk my dad into putting it on his truck...

If i didn't just know that one day i'd torch the nose of someone behind me with that I'd think about it...

Anyone else read the "disclaimer" at the bottom? lol....

:yesnod: Fiberglass is nasty stuff when burining. They told us at the academy, if I remember correctly one of the products of burining fiberglass is hydrogen cyanide. I do remember them mentioning Corvettes and boats specifically.
But...that would look really cool coming out of sidepipes!!!
Tom

that would look cool out the sidepipes at night..i can see it now..sitting at the lights..just past midnight..up pulls a riced out honda..he looks over and smiles..i flick the switch, rev it up, and flames shoot out the pipes melting the ground effects, spoiler and all the stickers on the side of the car....

I think I found the solution to those high school a-holes in the parking lot! :yesnod:

Everyone tries to cut each other off so they can get out of the lot that much faster, including sideswipping, bumping bumpers, and otherwise wedging their POS in so no one can move. Just think how much fun it would be with sidepipes! Or do like some of the guys here with side pipes AND regular exhaust, then I'll have 3 sides covered. Try to sideswipe me now, mf-er! :reddevil

Holy catfish, Batman!

How did that happen?

We used to make cars and pickups shoot flames like that. Amazing what a spark plug, manual choke, and a piece of wire can do. :D I wouldn't recommend it though. Pretty easy to make mufflers into shrapnell. (sp.?)

My thoughts exactly.....I always wanted to run an extra wire back with a spark plug on the back to ......ehem....re-burn my exhaust fumes on the tail-gaiter behind me ! :smash: :smash:

Here are a couple pictures I took about 30 years ago. This was an almost
new C3, just a few months old. I don't remember the year.

Note, the hood is still on and closed, however most of it is the fibreglass
laying on the engine.
