Amazing. A car I would have killed for in the 80's, and here it sits.....a crate motor away from serious fun. If you weren't on the other side of the damn continent.....

Hmmmm, I don't know if the wife would go for another Corvette laying around. I'm not a motor head by any stretch, I just love to drive them. What would a stroker cost and how much to pay someone to install? This might be a fun project and it would feel good to help someone out. You didn't loose the house did you Gary?

Such a shame to see this thing rot out there.

VeryUnoriginal 11-27-2012 11:08 AM

I'm really surprised this thing hasn't sold. Man, if I had the cash and you weren't 14 hours away, I'd be all over this. GLWS. :D

Not quite yet :toetap:

Now where playing the waiting game with the FEMA and State Farm adjusters :toetap:

The vette was parked on the highest part of the yard on a old concrete patio - the bay just got over the door sills --- foot wells filled with water and wicked up into the seats ---- witch would be no big deal -- the whole interior needs replacing anyway

None of the electronics got wet  ---- I pulled it off the road about 8 months ago -- once I see what kind of Insurance monies I get -- I might deivert a few bucks to the vette --- if not I'll probably give it away now :(

And the vultures desend in 5 - 4 - 3 - 2 ----

I paid to have the whole vette repainted and hood louvers were glassed in smooth and opened underneath, so they work.

Hello,

How this thread is old but may I ask where u got the louvers? Also who did the glassing in of them for you? Thx

I got them from corvette central -- opened them up - and the "BUTCHER" installed them :toetap::toetap::toetap:

professionals choice in north Babylon :toetap::toetap::toetap:

Look at all the photos --- there isn't one part of the body that wasn't screwed up by them :ack:

Thx!! Im assuming they actually functioned as they should have and did u put anything under them to act as a drip tray?

Oh Yea -- big time

On a normal vette - they would be installed a little further back - but on a mistake - "err" - 84 - the ducting is in the way :toetap:

At a stop light - I can see heat waves bleeding out - once I taped a temp probe in one of the slots --- at 40 MPH - about 130 degs. was blowing out

P/S -- never had any problems with rain ---

May I ask what ducting? Ducting you put in or were these louvers just straight open air right out from the engine bay?

I assume you feel they were worth it heat wise in the fact that they expelled heat well?

Thx again:rock:

mazdaverx7 12-11-2012 09:03 PM

wait...all you want is a grand??? where did i miss that?? i feel pretty du\mb right now. ok, does the car still run and drive? my father in law has been looking for a C4 and this is right up his alley.. a little water damage is no biggie. it would make a great xmas gift, especially if i would be able to drive it back to OH. if not i would be willing to trailer it..

RICEKILA 12-12-2012 11:14 AM

RICEKILA 01-26-2013 08:54 AM

I might have confused you with someone else -- this other guy has a friend in a state closer - and was gonna send him over to look at the vette -- but -- I would have had to meet him 1/2 way :crazy2:

mazdaverx7 01-26-2013 10:13 AM

ghoastrider1 02-03-2013 11:24 PM

I was a door gunner/ crew chief in two different assault helicopter companies in Nam. That SKS was only dropped once....not true about being dropped once but makes a great tale.

But a stick this time

I caught myself looking out the window a few times already :(

mazdaverx7 02-26-2013 01:48 AM

the trip went better than expected and Gary was a most gracious host! the car is safely parked in the driveway and will bump my Porsche 944 for a spot in the garage tomorrow or Wednesday. going to get working on this car. it was an all day event but one that was well worth it!

Gary, thank you again for being so hospitable and for taking the time to explain everything about the car. you are more than welcome to come to Ohio and visit the car. you are also welcome to be treated to a steak dinner at my expense as well as some beer and some shooting, though not in that particular order, lol!

RICEKILA 02-26-2013 07:05 AM

If I knew the Porsch-ie was gonna get bumped - you could-a brought it here

By the way - I found your wallet on my front lawn - when ya coming back for it

And wifey #2 thanks you'll for picking up the seat

mazdaverx7 02-26-2013 09:40 AM

my son and i pulled the 84 in the garage this morning and started picking up the interior and drying some things out. he's excited to continue working on it. as soon as the wife releases us we will be back out there, lol.

Before I even think about another "anything" -- I need to get my house back in order ( the Wifey tells me :toetap: ) front steps that floated to Copiague -- siding that blew to Deer Park "WILL" be done first -- and she wants heat -- I tell her summer is coming

A nice thing about a Jeep -- if you run low on funds and cant keep it up ---- no big-ie ----- a vette -- not so much
