2008 Z06 may be a flaw in some tranny's

GM is playing hardball with a potential flaw with the tremac T6060 MM6 transmission. To make a long story short my new Z purchased in May 2008 had that so called cold grind shifting into second. Brought car to dealer and had syncro's and 2nd gear replaced. Machanic saw what he called an unusual metal burn where the syncro's seat. 400 miles later same grinding problem especially with shifts at +3500 rps. Tranny taken apart again, same exact problem same exact metal burn. I demanded a new tranny. Dealer recommeded the ball go to GM's court because of what they believed was a potential flaw. This dealer is not the dealer I purchased this vehicle from. GM wanted it fixed again before they would even concider a new tranny. New syncros and gear was sent to dealer. Took 3 week to get. Dealer said parts were out of stock and GM was getting a new vender. Part came in two days ago and were rusted in the package upon delivery. Dealer said he would not put those parts in the tranny, they were flawed. I am still waiting for new parts. Between both repair attempts the car has been apart sitting in the shop over 5 weeks. My many complaints to GM have been a waste of time. The warantee complaint center is handled in Argentina and they do nothing but try to blow smoke up you ass while they sheild GM of any direct contact. I believe that there is a milling problem with the syncros or the gear they seat on and GM may being trying to delay any potential recalls of the T6060. A lemon law attorney has taken on this case even though this has not yet been the third repair attempt to qualify at no cost to me. Car only has 2,000 miles. Those of you 08 Z owners who have 2nd gear grind problems who have been told it is because the tranny needs to be warmed up may have the same flaw my Z has. GM CUSTOMER SERVICE is horrible.

Sorry to here about your issues with the "T6060". I have a 08Z and have no grinding or issues with the tranny. I hope this is not a production flaw with the T6060. Some seem to have this issue, and some not. :toetap:

Good luck with everything, keep us posted on your progress.

Might be on to something.

This is another '08 with a transmission problem. 3000 miles 4 months old.

I called it what it is early on (POS) and got flamed. I do not try speed shifts anymore because of missing shifts from 1st to 2nd. Oh yea, I know, the transmission does not miss shifts the driver does. Give me a break "Air Heads"

Luweegy 09-20-2008 12:47 PM

I thought your problem was in 1st and 5th Joe!?

I'm now glad I bought an '07

Well, I'm glad mine is an '06 with the old, tested and true T56 transmission in it. But I am still upset to hear that this problem has happened in the '08s with the TR6060.

People with the base '08 C6s have described similar problems with the TR6060 as well.

Thomas your are correct, my problem is with 1st and 5th gear. However, I find it relevant that he has been waiting for parts as long as I have. Keep in mind I had some sort of minor "grind" since I took delivery. But all I heard and read was that this condition was inherent to the 6060 when cold. Believe me I was cringing at the thought of having a dealer tear open the trans, but I had no choice, it's broken.

.

Keyser Soze 09-20-2008 01:29 PM

I've got the grind in 2nd and 3rd, but only when it's cold. After the car warms up the problem is gone.

QbnSuperman 09-20-2008 02:36 PM

wow man, good luck. I hope the general pulls through.

I have an 08 Z with no grind thankfully.

RoHo 09-20-2008 02:38 PM

I have an 08 that I can red line in the first 4 gears and have never had a problem what so ever, so it's not all of them.

Keep us informed as to the final fix.

Good LUCK!!:(:(:toetap:

Finger 09-20-2008 07:32 PM

I have the same problem when cold but goes away after it gets warm. 2008 Z06 500 miles.

OregonC6 09-20-2008 07:40 PM

Argentina? Good grief. That's a new one. Making calls to companies today is like a trip around the world.

LT5 John 09-20-2008 08:30 PM

I have an 08 Z06, no problems yet...However, only a couple of hundred miles on the car?...

TAILWAG 09-20-2008 08:40 PM

I have an 08' with 2,500 miles on the clock. I have yet to experience ANY tranny issues and she is driven hard. I do know however of 2 other 08' Z owners in the area that have 08's and ALL 3 of them have been in for some sort of synchro/clutch/tranny problem - all of them have 4,000 miles or less...yikes.

Same for me. Still trying to monitor the situation to isolate problem.

AreOhBeeC6Z 09-20-2008 11:14 PM

I had a 08 C6 with the new manual trans and had three total transmissions in the car under 2000 miles, I had the car bought back about a month and a half ago.
