Re: Best brand of throttle body? (dtorc4)

Re: Best brand of throttle body? (dtorc4)
I jus ask this a few months ago. The one I think is the best for the money is the holley, very nice. It cost i think around 370.00. I got a book from bbk and theuy seen to be nice to.If i had the money i would go holley if not that much cash go for the bbk 299.00 I think. My 2 cents jay

Re: Best brand of throttle body? (jparr)
I had the 58mm from LPE it was cut from a chunk of billet. Very nice piece. A bit pricey, but it worked. I got a deal on it with my Super Ram at the time(it was used). But I put about 50,000 miles on it with no problems.

Re: Best brand of throttle body? (LPDesRoche)
I have heard that the LPE's are actually Acell TB's with the LPE name? Intakes to...any word on this?

Re: Best brand of throttle body? (dtorc4)
To answer a direct question with a direct answer; ASM......Looks good, good
workmanship, and from the lack of complaints, good service. |
Re: Best brand of throttle body?
I have a Holley 52MM TB on my Firehawk... very nice piece, high quality and great service.

Nobody mentioned the TPIS. No good or too pricey? :chevy

Re: Best brand of throttle body? (dtorc4)
The BBK works alright for me. Holley claims their TB outflows the BBk, but the difference is not worth the price to me.:nonod: The BBK is in the CorvetteMAll for $289. This is a pretty good price if you are serious about getting one. :yesnod:

Re: Best brand of throttle body? (SLOWBUSA)
Well the Accell are manufactured by LPE. The Holley looks nice but it all looks. The TPIS and the ASM are the two best not including the Accel. The Accel is probably the best, but depending on what year your car is they are difficult to fit because of the size. I have an 86 with one and had to use ducts from Turbonetics to make it fit. It is also very expensive in the 500 range. If you want function with little money the BBK is the trick. If you want the cadillac of the throttle bodies that beats everything keep waiting cause as of now each one has its faults.

Re: Best brand of throttle body? (SLOWBUSA)
highest to the lowest quality but they all work fine
1) ASM 2) Holley 3) BBK 4) stock one?? You get what you paid for. Bruce |
Re: Best brand of throttle body? (snaketr)
I'd go with the Holley, i just put a 52 on my new engine and it looks awesome, its all billet unlike the BBK. Everything fit great on my 88. I also think its the best for the money, haven't seen the AS&M or the Accel or anything, but i like the holley anyway.

BBK :)

Re: Best brand of throttle body? (mackeyred96)
Actually of the ones you listed bruce the BBK is the best out of all. Granted the Holley is billet and looks really good. The BBK has bearings and is much smoother. It also has a better seal of the throttle blades where the holley actually has gaps and in some spots rubs the side of the throttle body.

Re: Best brand of throttle body? (dtorc4)
Hands down, the AS&M Billet piece! I have used them for years now and they are THE BEST! All you have to do is look at them and read what goes into them and you can tell for yourself!
Check them out in our store in the Corvette Forum mall or on our web site and see for yourself. We have have a LOT of problems with the BBK's with binding, wistling, etc. It is a hit or miss proposition with those. :( We have them in stock, so let me know if I can help. |
Re: Best brand of throttle body? (Chris@SpeedDemon)
I purchased a AS&M 58mm from Speeddemon, the TB and the service was great!
I ended up selling it, put the head/cam package off for now. |
