2001 Battery Replacement (group number)

Does anyone know the group number for the battery in a 2001 C5? I need to replace the battery but don't have the car or manual local and I'd like to pick up the battery before heading over to the car. Also, how many amps does the stock battery put out?

Which battery

Hi, for a replacement battery for your car you can get many different brands with many different part #'s .
If you want a Delco the proper one is either the ACD 75-60 with 680 CCA at about 100.00. Or the pro series # 75 DT 7yr with 700 CCA at about 20.00 more depending on where you buy. The pro series has the best warranty giving 50 months FREE Replacement and the remainder of the 7 yrs pro rata. I believe the other is 18 or 24 mos FREE and 6 yr pro rata. The pro series has vent caps for adding water and the other is sealed. Places like PEP boys sell the ACD 75-60 under their own part # and give a better warranty. The pro series is a great battery, but for the corvette I would prefer the other because it is sealed and cleaner. It is more than adequate and more powerful that the oem in the car originally.
If you chose to go with an OPTIMA as many do , the one that can fit well is the 34/78 Dual Terminal with PUCK ADAPTER, you need the PUCK ADAPTER to make it fit right in the vette. They cost about 170.00 at Advance Auto Parts, other sellers may have different prices.
There are other choices in the 34/78 group that can fit and are less expensive.
The common wisdom when it comes to corvettes is get the one that is sealed and would be cleaner to use. And use a maintainer when the car is not in use.
Also when disconnecting the battery it is wise to disable the radio theft lock before doing so.
Good Luck

If you want an AGM Battery (sealed and won't leak acid), you can get an Optima, Excide Orbital, or Sears Platinum.

Whichever battery you get, use a battery maintainer if it sits for more than 3 days.
