it might look alright for some, but just the custom helmets fitted for you and passenger what happens when you change passengers. if it was just to race off road track only you dont need half the stuff with interior. and most states have some kind of law concerning helmets special glasses with no windshield. everyone has an opinion, over three hundred thousand no roof no saftey glass:rofl:

bowmanized 09-04-2007 06:12 PM

That thing is sick. I'd rather have a roof and windshield but still callaway knows what they're doing. It's surprising Callaway gets no love on this board. Look at those brakes and suspension.

Wayne O 09-04-2007 06:53 PM

What a joke..."encapsulated helmets."

I don't mind wearing my helmet running a road course but I sure as Hell wouldn't want to wear one driving down PCH. What a waste of a perfectly good Corvette...probably a $150K waste at that.

I still have respect for what Callaway does under the hood but otherwise...those guys are losing it...big time!

zich6 09-04-2007 07:04 PM

Doesn't Calaway marketing do any focus group interaction, or test marketing? For this car the "shave it's butt and make it walk/drive backward" philosophy wouldn't even work.

That car is great. Why don't some of you realize it's a throwback to the days with no windshield so it's a very unique car today. I like it and it'll add to the C6's history.

BTW anyone catch the price, it was sold for over $300,000!

was that a joke? that car was horrendous, did anyone catch the video of danica patrick test driving the 2007 zo6, she said and i quote "it feels weak"

besz28 09-04-2007 10:26 PM

those helmuts are a great idea for that car.....nobody will be able to see you driving it. :ack:

cv67 09-04-2007 11:18 PM

Sorry, those helmets were a stupid huge ghey idea. They need to bring the windshield back up a bit and wrap it around like the older speedster.
Other than that I bet its one heck of a ride and Im glad Callaway is still doing their magic.
Was it me or did that helmet panel look extremely flimsy as they lifted it up, not that it matters. :(

Well of course the Z06 feels wimpy to her: her normal ride is an Indycar. Once you drive Formula cars, any street car, even the Z06, will feel like a Prius.

So an ugly car has now been transformed into an ugly and useless car. Callaway used to do some cool stuff, now it's just a bolt-on shop.

I've been to Kuwait, as well as quite a few other countries over there. On average, their English is much better than the word-puke this guy is letting flow. If you want to rant on a site that uses English for the primary language, learn to write it better.

It is funny how people praise some of the unique designs out there, of other car makers (Bugatti, Ferrari, and others) while chastising this company for coming out with something expressive.

Sure, it is NOT the typical Corvette shape anymore, that is great!

What is the funniest part of all the pissing and moaning on this forum, is how nobody seems to realize the technology on this car, applies down to ALL current Corvettes :flag:

Imho the Callaway C16 coupe, cabrio & speedster are I'm certain very well made top quality cars as Callaway is known for a first rate product. Some of his products are targeted for very well heeled customers that are in a completely different category than most of us. I think they call that the "carriage" trade. We're all in different leagues, & most of us would be just as happy with a C6 Z06, or a modded( supercharged, turbo'd, 427, etc) C-6 for a ton less money & probably more than a few prefer the stock looks of the C-6 or C6 Z06 to any of Callaway's offerings this time around( not to say he didn't have prior rendering's that had the right "look" & really turned heads). In the end it's a matter of what turns you on & how much money you want to spend to scratch your itch.

It may be a stretch, but have you ever considered that a lot of people may be saying it looks like impractical goofy excrement because it is impractical goofy excrement, and not because we just can't handle 'expressive' design?

Jus' wonderin'....

The lesson from history I personally take looking at this experimental car versus the C16 is that one was an intelligently and gracefully executed work of automotive art, and the other is the Callaway.

unfourtantly i was a ford man my whole life but my wife was a Chevy so i have owned three 75 04 05. the only way the helmet idea would be any good is if the back lifted and helmets were fixed and when it came down it went over your heads like a capsule with life support air and heat. and it also looks like they stole the idea from Pontiac solstice

i dont no what you guys are so upset about i like the c4 and the zr1 i just dont like the speedster.
and my intake is stock and he had headers and exhaust. he tried me and lost i guess he thought like you, he had a super vette. sorry for breaking your bubble:lol: you run what you brung he didn't bring enough:thumbs: and i am in no way saying a c4 cant beat a c6 but that one couldn't beat this one on that day. and as a mater of fact i was going to buy a c4 a teal one, beautiful car:cheers:

No bubble bursting here, but running a modded 11 sec C6 against a (17) yr old Vette and gloating about itwould be equivalent to one putting down a kill on an L82.... with headers of course. Newer car better beat it!

This is getting out of hand.......The Callaway C16 Speedster is trick,If I had money to burn Id have one.I dont like all the Callaway stuff, dont really care for the Aero body work on the C4s but the first Callaway Speedster was over the top, nothing else like it at the time, and the few-1-?ZR1s Speedsters was a notch above that.If some here knew Callaway history or Corvette history for that matter maybe some of the comments wouldnt have gottin out of hand. The C16 Speedster has go to be the trickest Callaway yet,If you can afford one,you dont need to worry about a top.

I'm sorry, but that car is ugly and for me, useless. $300k? I'd rather have a lambo. That car has some HISTORY too.

Somebody makes a replica of old speedsters, and just that concept makes the creation Holy?? BS. And I had a '71 for a little while, so don't tell me I'm not paying attention to the vette lineage. And frankly, the ZR1 doesn't do it for me either. I remember when they came out - I respect them for the principal and recognize that at the time they were very special, hard to get, and quite a step above the vette... but from a performance standpoint they are not in the same league as today's supercars.

The most ridiculous thing I see with the Callaway car is they kept probably the worst part of the car - the dash waterfall. Add up what they did....$300k???? Get monster brakes, coilovers, a maggie 122 and a 427 stroker, and you don't come up with nearly that amount of dough. Add custom body panels...still not even close. Come on...at least either change the interior to a minimalist vintage replica, or trick it out like the interior of a Murcielago. Instead, they put in racing seats, some suade panels, a steering wheel, and a nameplate. Sheesh. Callaway can do some great things with vettes, but imho this aint one of em.

I'd rather have THIS creation that the callaway, unless I was able to sell it and buy something I really liked.

Uh, respectfully, Callaway's much-storied history ain't gonna help me one bit in staving off the laughter of random onlookers if I were to unsaddle from that nasty-lookin' bucket of armpits in public.

It's hideous.

Getting stuck in the rain and getting soaked would be a bonus because less people would be laughing at your complete lack of taste and good sense in buying such a monument to a designer infected with cranalanalitis.

:o

I frankly could not figure out what you meant: "(IF YOU GOT ONE) , and he let one of those as monument in top of his house !", but no matter -- let's just agree to disagree, if in fact that is your point.

(Oh, and my avatar is indeed a picture of my own C6, taken coming home from Tail of the Dragon.)
