"The security light remaining on is a sure sign of an under hood ground issue. Been there! Clean ALL of the under hood ground connectors and frame contact points. See my IMPORTANT ELECTRICAL INFORMATION sticky."

Where do I find this information? I have a 99 that is just starting to have FOB problems.

Thank you!

Rowland

Finally!!!!!!

OK checked everything, did everything recommended, (THANKS EVERYONE FOR THE HELP) but ultimately bought a new FOB and viola all is right in Zora Land!
Judging by the number of FOB's on Ebay and the expense for a new one relative to other Vette model years it's not an uncommon problem.
Good luck and......
THANKS AGAIN EVERYONE FOR THE HELP!!!!!!!!!

I know you got a fob, but for others:

Check out Gene's prices? His Nov Specials are in General.

Better check those numbers, a 2000 fob will not work on the 2001-2004. The 97-99 will work on a 2000, so I think your dividing line is one year off. 10432147 only came on a 2000, but will work on 97-99 (but the passive feature will not since the 2000 did not have a passive switch). The correct part number for the 2001-2004 is 25695954 (#1 fob) or 25695955 (#2 fob). You can mix and match the #1 and #2 fobs depending on how you program them through the DIC. They are also much cheaper.

From Wikipedia:
A key fob is a decorative item many people often carry with their keys, on a ring or a chain, for ease of tactile identification, to provide a better grip, or to make a personal statement. Key fobs are often mistakenly called "key rings" or "key chains" in colloquial usage.

Fobs vary considerably in size, style and functionality. Most commonly they are simple discs of smooth metal or plastic, typically with a message or symbol such as that of a logo (as with conference tchotchke) or a sign of an important group affiliation. A fob may be symbolic or strictly aesthetic, but it can also be a small tool. Many fobs are small flashlights, compasses, calculators, penknives, discount cards, bottle openers, or USB flash drives.

Electronic key fobs are used for remote keyless entry systems on motor vehicles. Early electric key fobs operated using infrared and required a clear line of sight to function. These could be copied using a programmable remote control. More recent models use challenge-response authentication over radio frequency, so these are harder to copy and do not need line of sight to operate

used vs old

In all honesty the amount of money I saved buying a used "FOB" probably isn't worth the money saved. If it breaks I'll need another (obviously) and likely is a good chance it'll quit soon as they seem to be a hot commodity and topic on this forum.

Bottom line if I had to do it all over again I call Gene and get a new one. Odds are I will be soon anyway.:ack:
