Just did mine last weekend with the 3M window weld and primer. Pretty easy to apply. We will see how it holds up. Thanks to the tipsters on this forum.

Hi I did this method with the rhino glue and it worked out great
problem is, I went to the tint shop to have the rear window tinted and it didn’t come out great they said the glue was in the way and the only way to get it perfect would be removing the window again. Would there be any easy way of doing this? |
Update to my post a couple of posts back, in November, 2021. I used 3M Window Weld in 2014. Still going strong, now 8 years, 25,000 miles later!!! Word to the wise; do NOT get it on anything that you don't want it on, and have plenty of rags, gloves, and brake cleaner handy!!!!

So, after almost 12 years, my back window started to come out again (just a bit though). So, I just got done re gluing it in with 3m window weld. This time, instead of acetone, I used brake cleaner, and like others said, use gloves or have black stains on your hands for a day or two! Here are some pics...

I'll bet you've found its a lot easier to do if you catch it before it falls out completely!!! My wife caught mine on its way out. Talk about a shocker! We were cruising around the 'Back to the Bricks' annual car cruise, and all of a sudden, she says real calmly 'Oh look, Mike, the rear window is falling out!!!!' DOHHHH!!!!! Talk about high blood pressure!!!

My buddy has glass coverage on his C5, they actually replaced his top because the glass was falling out

I did mine myself in 2014. 9 years, and 45,000 miles later, it's still good. If doing yourself, I HIGHLY recommend 3M Window Weld. My results speak for themselves.....

C5 Convertible window repair
I just used 3M Window Weld on my rear window that was separating. I put a blanket inside to put pressure on the window.
I masked it off and applied the Window Weld. I then put weight on the outside areas. After 24 hours, I checked to see if there were any spots needing more. Sometimes it is difficult to see how much was distributed, but it is better less than more. I applied Window Weld in the areas that didn't quite fill to the edge. After all was finished, I took a razor blade and trimmed any excess. Everything came out great with very little mess. See attached pictures. https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.cor...226dd55d66.jpg https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.cor...7f69c6ba64.jpg https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.cor...e46c7c714c.jpg I hope this helps someone. Moving this to C5 Tech - lots of good posts on how to reattach the back window on a vert.
