Soft Scub saved me.....
 

This is pretty crazy but Soft Scrub really saved my ass....... well my paint anyway. I was staining my fence few weeks ago and I moved my cars out away from the fence but, apparently, not far enough. A slight breeze picked up the stain from the paint gun and deposited it on the front end of two of my cars. By the time I realized it, it was already dry.

I got out my Porter Cable and tried 3M compound and Griot's machine polish. Neither one was taking it off. It was baked on pretty good. My wife suggested Soft Scrub but I was very reluctant to use it on the paint. She tried on the windshield and it took the stain right off. So, I put a little on an orange pad and put the polisher on high speed. It took the stain off without scratching the paint!! I followed up with 3M compund and swirl mark remover and the paint looks perfect.

Now, I'm not advocating using Soft Scrub instead of car care products but if you're up the creek like I was and ready to go to an auto body shop to have them take something as stubborn as wood stain off your paint, you may want to try a small area to see how it works. This stuff saved me few hundred bucks I'm sure.:thumbs:

Clay bar will usually take off over spray. Pretty quick and easy.

Tried it. Wasn't working. I thought it would have done the job too. I tried the clay bar before going to compound.

Paint looks like new. I will take some pics tonight. I was VERY sceptical at first and tried the roof first so if anything happened you couldn't see it anyway.

Interesting.......Not as abrasive as sand paper but, enough to get the job done......Tell your wife to take a bow........ :cheers:

Yikes...what clay did you try? Do you think an aggressive clay would have worked?

I think I would have tried wax and grease remover. All is well that ends well. :thumbs:

I'm kind of partial to Soft Scrub with Chlorox...it disinfects as it cleans.:D :rofl:

none of us would have hesitated to use wet sanding to remove a stubborn paint defect - how much worse can this be ?

That is pretty abrasive stuff. What else did it remove and what else did it leave?

I used Griot's Garage clay and it wasn't working.

Guys, honestly, this stuff is not as abrasive as you may think. I even used it on the plastic stone deflector on the hood of my truck and it cleaned the stain without scratching the plastic! My wife uses it to clean a lot of delicate things around the house with no scratching.

I was just worried about the residue so I neutralized it with lots of Griot's Speed Shine after I buffed it with the PC. Then I followed it up with 3M rubbing compound and swirl mark remover.
