F70-15 Replacements

Looking for the preferred 225R70X15 tire out there with raised white letters for my '70 coupe.
Was condidering Goodyear G2's but the reviews to too good.
Any opinions?
My LS5 lives in the garage most the time.I still have the original F70-15 Wide Ovals that came with the car and they are near new.
Thx and PM's would be great.
Jim

...to me, the P 225-70/15 tires look too big for a '68-'72. The P225 is a direct replacement size for the '73-'77 GR 70-15 tires. The P215-70/15 is the best replacement size for the original F70-15 application.

Paul is right on. The correct replacement for the F70-15 is the 215/70-15.

Check out the link above, and arrow down and the direct replacement to the F70-15 is what paul mentioned.

:iagree: :iagree:

Many sizes fit.

Performance varies WIDELY (I run 245/45ZR17 Eagle F1s).

Looks are subjective.

Original F70-15's were 26.92 inches

The 215/70-15 are 26.9 inches and look totally correct

The 225/70-15's are 27.4 inches and don't look right on 68-72 imho

Car looks great Paul

On my '69 427/435 I replaced the F70-15's with P215/70R15 Coopers. They fill the tire wells out very nicely.

Nearly direct replacements [in radials] are the 215's. I have 225's on the front and 235's on the back of my small block '71. I will probably go with 225's all around when I replace them....but I don't need bigger tires in back. If you have a "screamer" engine, you could go as high as 255's in back (but they are too wide and too tall for my liking).
