Am I missing somthing...are there left and right sides?

Looks like I have two of the same

kbreese 10-30-2007 08:51 PM

lol, I take it you did too much research before your purchase, including not reading this thread. You're a salesmans dream! That is the design of the tire. Yeah, its a bit odd.

BitViper 10-31-2007 09:28 AM

Know I read it..its just never been CONFIRMED...that this is the design...No word directly from the company

Diceman9 10-31-2007 09:34 AM

Seems simple to me..... one mold.... one tire.... fits both sides. But......... :skep: :skep: :skep: it does look like one's coming and ones going:jester :seeya

From their (very slow) website

"Parametric design - from the drawing board to the shelf
The Ultrac Sessanta is designed parametrically. This means that the tread construction, shape and contours are optimised for every size using mathematical formulae based on design parameters. Each size of the Ultrac Sessanta therefore offers maximum design quality."

Asymmetric would mean different pattern for both sides...

BitViper 10-31-2007 10:45 AM

In parametric geometry definition, shapes are designed by combining base models specified by simple physical parameters

ie the design stays the same..but each different size tire is fed a different set of "Parameters" to scale the tire up or down....nothing about symmetry

The beauty is that the tires can be rotated side to side. You won't notice the tread 'patterns' as being different once mounted.

These are sweet tires - had them ogled over in Lowe's parking lot yesterday by an C6Vette owner. He was upset he didn't know about them a week ago as he just put on new shoes for more than twice the cost.

I was very impressed with their very quick ground delivery also.

My bad, working with Solidworks 8 hours a day is melting my brain. :ack:

Are you running the 275's up front as well?

I'm not finding anything that says they are directional BitViper. This is from their site. Please let us know how they hook up once you get them installed!

OK - just ordered my 18/19 combo from performanceplus.com for less than $800 shipped. We will see how this goes. Hopefully I can get to the track soon with them on to see how it goes. Glad I found this thread. BFGs would have been over $1200 installed.

I had a set installed on the stock wheels less than 2 weeks ago. This past weekend we took a trip up to Helen GA for Oktoberfest and this was the time to put the tires to the test.
First off like everyone says they are quiet, very quiet... For once my car doesn't have that pickup truck/big tire sound.
Second they are awesome in the rain. I had no issues with hydoplaning and even coming off the line a bit hard from stops and stoplights in the rain the tires maintained traction. Now if I punched it and dumped the clutch yes they would break loose however just about anytire will do that in the rain.
On to dry traction, they were great coming off the line and I had no issues with the rear wanting to slip loose going around turns pretty tight and pushing the gas a bit through the apex. So far I love these tires and will buy again. They will see the drag strip probably in Jan along with a visit to Roebling Road if all goes as planned.

I live near Lawrenceville and just recently purchased a 2002 EB Z06. I haven't meet anyone with another Z around here. Where are you? PM me if you'd rather.
I'm thinking of ordering a set of these tires thru tomzwheels. What size did you get?

In case anyone missed the other thread you can get a set of these for $650 right now from Tomz wheels

kbdub 11-01-2007 06:41 PM

These tires suck. Do not buy them. Having loads of grip rain or shine, hot or cold makes our cars boring. I miss my F1's not hooking up when the temp drops below 60.

(f'n price is going to be $1200 next year when i want to replace them because they are so popular:willy: )
