Great thread. It deserves to be a sticky and not locked away forever.
Rex's youtube link in posting #68 should be required viewing. |

Bill was a magician with BB Chevy's ! His first shop was in Berwyn Pa, where I grew up and my families business was located. He was in the back of Joe Kelley's Sunoco station. After high school I worked at Hanks Speed shop in Berwyn and when he wasn't racing every Saturday morning he would come in for some coffee smoke his stinky cigars and to read what was new in our magazine rack. One day he showed up in a Butternut Yellow 69 Camaro. I asked him is that the new Toy ? he said yes. It had a black vinyl roof dog dish hubcaps red line tires. A M-22 and a aluminum head 375 HP 396 ! Radio and heater delete. Ended up being the most winning car Bill ever ran. He once did a tune up on my 66 427/390 Corvette coupe. Cost was $65 plus parts!! Never ran so good in it's life. I knew almost all his Super Crew back then as I had gone to Conestoga HS with all of them . They later became SRD Speed Research and Development and had their shop right next to Bill's in Malvern. Some neat times back then.

All of this is very cool.

Let's try to keep this thread about the GM Can Am engines we love. Grumpy's Toy VIII is being written about on a lot of other pages a bit more Camaro/vintage drag racing oriented. PM me if you'd like some of the other pages. Appreciate all the help, Sincerely |
Wow! What a great thread. Lots of nostalgia.

Two new books on the Shadow marque have been released (October 2020) which will make for some great reading.
Wonderful thread. Wonder where IGO200 went? |

https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.cor...927ec4e67d.jpg Jenkins was depicted on the July '69 cover of Car Craft magazine with a ZL-1 engine, but in reality Jenkins never ran a ZL-1 in any of his Toys. |
