Nice work.. did you vinyl everything yourself?

Also I know you mentioned the color, where did you buy the vinyl at?

I did everything except the vinyl. I had a guy I know that owns an upholstery shop do it. There is no way I could do that kind of stitching.

He ordered the vinyl for me so I don't know where he got it. Just one of his suppliers. It is an excellent match for the stock interior.

Parrot and D-2

Hi Nomad or another electronic wizzard,
Great write-up on the D-2. I'm getting my ducks lined up to do it myself as well.
Questions:
1) I bought the Parrot Bluetooth adaptor. It comes with ISO plugs. Do you know if the Parrot will plug directly into the D-2? I'm hoping I don't have to go on a wire-splicing spree to hook it up. Or, do you know of another bluetooth adaptor that may be plug and play?
2) Also, I already have a Neucleus iPod adaptor piggybacked on to the OEM XM unit. Can I use that or do I need to buy Pioneer's XM adaptor?

I tried accessing www.avic411.com this am, but their site is down.
TIA for your help.
Bob

Just wanted to be able to find this later :lurk:

Great write up! Thanks for taking the time to detail it and post it.. One question, were you able to retain the use of the steering wheel audio controls? I know there is a unit out there which I think is made by Pacs that allows use of those with aftermarket HU's..

In the C6 FAQ. We need MORE of this high quality writeup, both technically informative, pictorially complete... and FUNNY to boot!

Cheers!

I am changing out my factory nav unit how do you remove the center cover that covers the radio and shifter area, do you have pics of that or can you tell me how?

Here's the link from the C6 Audio FAQ:

Does this work in a C5?

Do these wire colors and combinations also apply to the C5?

Thanks

Jeff

NO! :smash:

Click here for the C5 prints and pinouts

kocujeff 05-23-2012 05:09 PM

Unfortunately, that doesn't help me much. I need to BCM pinouts for the VSS and the Reverse Light Engage on the C5. These diagrams only refer to the stock radio plug pinouts...

Thanks

Jeff

For reverse signal in C5 you need to run a wire to the rear bumper and tap into the lights. IIRC, all light bulb ground wires are black, so use the other wire as your trigger.

VSS info from C5 FAQ:

I have a navigation h/u that has to connect to a speed sensor wire, where is it?
You will have to tap into the harness on the instrument cluster. You need to find the Green/white (A7-circuit 817) with a tan/white (A6-circuit 33) above it and a black (A8-circuit 150 ) below it..The other green/white (A10-circuit 357) oil temp has a blank and a gray on each side.

[QUOTE=_Nomad_;1557194931]Mmmmm….sweet tea!

Ok, now in order for the NAV unit to accurately place you on the map, it uses a GPS antenna, A VSS (Vehicle Speed Sensor) wire tap, and a Reverse Gear wire tap.
The VSS wire tells the NAV unit how far and fast you are moving forward and the Reverse Gear wire tells the NAV unit how far you have moved backwards. Together with the GPS antenna it can calculate accurately where the heck you are and display YOU on the map….kinda creepy and cool at the same time. Your car now KNOWS where you are! :willy:
The Reverse Gear wire that you need to tap in to is located in the wire bundle at the BCM, which is found in the passenger side floorboard right next to the fuse box. It is the light green wire, there is only one so it isn't hard to find, unless of course, you're color blind. In which case this picture won't be much help to you. But for those of us who are not color spectrum impaired, it looks like this.

http://temp.corvetteforum.net/bss/no...e_gear_tap.jpg

Since this car had the Bose stereo, the VSS wire is located in the black 12 pin wiring harness that goes into the back of the stereo. It is the dark green wire with a white stripe. Located at pin D. There is a second dark green wire with white stripe at pin H but that is the right audio signal wire so it is dead now. This is the wire you will need to tap.

http://temp.corvetteforum.net/bss/nomad//c6_vss_tap.jpg

(Note: Non-Bose systems do NOT have this wire here. If you do not have the Bose stereo you will have to go to either the instrument cluster bundle or the ECM to find the VSS wire. However it would be easier to go the instrument cluster. The VSS wire is located at pin 6 on the instrument cluster plug. Again, it is a dark green wire with white stripe.)

To further help you follow my description of the 12 pin connector going to the Bose stereo, here is a scan I made of the wiring diagram of the 12 pin connector that goes to the Bose stereo and the location of the VSS wire.

So car speed signal input should be the same for 2006 z06 with bose correct?

ZO ZICK 12-18-2012 12:36 AM

Very Nice Install

yes

and if you haven't seen it elsewhere, Grey wire w/Black stripe at TC/AH button is the dimmer wire

Happy modding
