Muffler Paint High Heat - What should I use?

My C5 has 2002 mufflers with the chrome tips which came off another vette. The muffler was painted black but the paint is now deteriorating and chipping off.
What paint should I use that will withstand the heat?
BBQ paint, Engine enamel? Need paint that will withstand the extreme heat from the muffler. Is there a special paint for mufflers. Dont know what the original paint was but was black and is abt 50% gone.

The stock mufflers on my 03 started to do the same thing. I was going to paint them with some hi-temp BBQ black paint just like you but never got around to it. I ended up putting Stingers on instead. I think you will be fine with the flat Black BBQ paint. Make sure you prep the cans well first and scuff them up with some fine sandpaper before you paint them. Good Luck with it.

Use alcohol after wire brushing them.

Went with BBQ paint after cleaning muffler and pipes and using paint thinner to get all grime off.

So far
SO good.
Thanx BIGHANK:smash:
