Bike Wreck STL area

Went on a Harley cruise today with a bunch of folks from the company I work for. Almost 40 bikes and probably 55 people.
I was in the rear in my Vette (don't ride a bike) along with another guy with a full size pickup (in case of breakdowns, etc).

Took the River Road up through Alton, Grafton and on north into Greene county Illinois. Great day for a cruise ( 2 or 4 wheeling)
Come around a bend and all the bikes are pulling off the road. One of the guys towards the front, lost it and put him, his wife and the bike into a ditch. She had a compound fracture of the leg plus possible internal injuries (bike ended up on top of her). Had to be medevacked to St Louis Univ Hosp. :blueangel: He had a lot of superficial cuts and a couple of broken fingers but seemed to be relatively OK.

Luckily they were both wearing helmuts (probably only 8 people out of the entire group had brain buckets on). I would hate to think what may have happened if she hadn't been wearing one.

Heading over to the hospital shortly. She works in my department and is one of my key people. :(

Hope everyone is OK.:blueangel:Glad to hear they were wearing helmets. Seems like nobody wears a helmet in Illinois.:nono:

Just got back from the hospital. Waiting for her to get out of surgery
Her (passenger): Boken left hip, right leg pretty mangled but looks like they can save it. Will take multiple surgeries, skin grafts etc. Broken bone in neck but no spinal cord damage.
Him:(driver) Two broken fingers and multiple cuts and contusions. Amazing that as bad as she was, he was able to walk to the ambulance and get in under his own power
Both: Damn Lucky
I hate to think what the outcome would have been if they had not been wearing helmets.

As my wife said after... imagine 40 people in their HD regalia standing at the side of the road tossing their lunch if these two had not had hemets on.
