LS1 Swap - Side pipes possible?

Does anyone know of having side pipes on a C3 LS1 swap? My buddy is swapping one into his '75 right now and is curious about it.

Are there any custom headers that would fit, or would the entire assembly need to be custom for sidepipes? Any help would be appreciated...

yep i modified my hookers to fit,i bought ls1 header flanges from gm and cut my old flanges off and had to move 2 of the pipes on each side to fit the ls1 flanges.Took some time but works fine. The one pics shows how far they off from the start.

Great looking work. Something to keep in mind...if you get a stickler for an emissions tester, your car has to pass emissions for either the year of the body or the year of the engine, whichever is newer. That's at least the way it is in a lot of areas...

check stainlessworks they have a set for the c3 ls1

They are for the Newman frame and pretty darn pricey, but I'm sure nice.

Nice work pat! I like the idea of LSx w/ sidepipes!

I'm in FL so emissions isn't a problem at all.

So Pat, you basically just took standard sbc headers and modified them to fit the LS1 if I understand you correctly?

PatsLs1vette 02-19-2006 10:46 PM

yes i took hooker side pipes and cut off the stock flanges,2 of the pipes on each header have to be cut and moved to the spacing of the ls1 flanges.I also forgot on the drivers side sidepipe you have to cut the 4 tubes going under the frame as it exits out and lengthen them a bout 1 inch more so the sidetubes will fit outside the frame now next to the rocker panels.Passenger side is ok.

Custom LS1 headers to standard C3 exhaust location allows the use of Gm C3 sidepipes. Expensive, but still one of the most beautiful setups for C3 sidepipes.
