How much slack in inner diff axles?

Hello!

How much slack/end play is acceptable in read end inner axles? Is there any factory tolerance?

btw do they have any role working as an control arm ? I meand do they have to hold half shaft inboard ??

No much. Any more than 1/16 is to much. They are setup for a few thousandths when new. Yes they control the trailing arm. They are like an upper control arm.

When new or after a rebuild you should see no more than 0.010" to 0.015" play. I would start thinking of a rebuild if I saw more than 0.050" play as the hardened part at the end of the yoke is not very thick. After it goes through the hardened part play increases rapidly and if the end mushrooms it will be difficult to remove.

Thank you !!

One more; is the excessive end play cured just replacing new axles and clip? That will do it ? I will open it soon .I try to post a picture of the shafts ring lands.

It depends on what is worn. It could be just the stub axles, just the clutchpack, or a combination of both.
