How much tread do new tires have?
In the small amount of searching I have performed, I haven't found the answer to this...
My question is how many 32nd's of tread do new, z51 Goodyear Eagle F1 Supercar EMT tires have? I want to compare the baseline vs. how much has eroded away. On my z51 with 6500 miles, have measured around 6 to 8 32nd's of tread left in the deepest regions of the tread, with as little as 4 32nd's when I measure at the wear bar. Knowing this, I can estimate how many more miles I can expect to get. |
I believe it's 11/32nds.

I believe it is only 9/32nds.

Most tires (including the standard C6 tires) are 11/32, but the supercar tires are 9/32", at least on the rear. Measurments on mine would indicate that would be true on the front also.

According to TireRack.com its 9/32 front and rear. I don't know what experience others have had with the stock Goodyears, but on my C5 they were slicks at 18K. I swttched to Michelin EMTs and had mucho tread left at 19K when I traded the car in on a C6 coupe (which I'm currently waiting....very impatiently......for a TPW on). When I do get the car and the Goodyears are gone, I will get another set of Michelins.

That's what Goodyear says. |
