Custom Paint Job on a C4?
I'm getting to ready to repaint my 1988 Corvette and i'm not sure if I wanted to put her bright red(original) or do something a little custom. Any pictures of c4's put there with painted designs or graphics on them? I don't see to many going with multiple colors, everyone seems to keeps it all one color. I figured a Corvette is cool, a custom Corvette would be cooler!

I do not think you will find many or any members here that will be proponents of multi-colored C4's. We here are all one-colored C4 guys and gals.

Uhmmm...not me. I think a two toned with contrasting stripe setup or even some nice ghost flames would look great on a C4. A trick tear away paint job would look cool as well. Just because we drive a vette doesn't mean we can't be creative. I know I got tired of looking at all of that silver on my car in less than a year (96 CE). |
Grandsports and the clones usually have a two tone look, and alot of early c4's were two tone as well.
There are other ways to customize too... I had my '85 repainted Sebring Silver Metallic (just one solid color), but I felt like wanted to do something to personalize my vette a little. This is what I decided to add: http://forums.corvetteforum.com/phot...11IMG_1849.jpg one on each side... they are from a '79, stripped and polished. |

In about a week, I'm gonna paint my Vette silver and the top and rear pillar gloss black. Should come out good and I'll still have my black wheels on.
Kinda like a 35th Anniversary, but instead of white and black, it will be a silver and black paint scheme. |
IMO a chameleon paint job would look very cool...

To me, the C4 is visually striking enough without adding custom paint.

IMHO unless your C4 is rare or "special", i.e. a GS, ZR1, LT4, Callaway, etc., why not paint a custom scheme. If you have the money, go for it!
   The paint would be cool but I am not particularly fond of body mods, etc. I like the lines of the C4 as is. But, like I always say, if it is YOUR car, it is YOUR call how you personalize it. |
there are quite a few members here with either stripes or flames, but not to much else, I was going have some custom airbrush done on the hood, but money is going to have to wait for paint. I think that if you went with a color shift of just two colors that are close like blue, green, or purple to a black would look sweet!!

I have a trade in Autobody Repair, and I know I can paint (not airbrush) but I can definitly do something intresting. I think the probleme is that the corvette "C4" is to low and flat that it dosn't give you much side surface to do something intresting, especialy with that bump gard all the way around it. Did anyone every see a corvette with that trim area filled? Think it would look good? smoother? any opinions. It's not like a standard L98 will ever gain much value + it's easier to modify that to keep something original. Like Mash2K said, it's not a Callaway or anything!

I would have centered them on the "Tuned Port Injection", but that's just me... |

I just found this gem in my old pics folder. I saw this thing at a Vette show in Orlando a few years ago...I couldn't stop laughing (sorry if anyone here owns it...or knows who does...but it still makes me laugh) :willy:
http://img151.imageshack.us/img151/4420/crap14ah.jpg Yes that's a starwars Tie-fighter firing on this Vette in a mural on the hood... It was for sale too, thank god I forgot my wallet that day!! http://img151.imageshack.us/img151/1963/crap29ks.jpg Here's a side view...the pink accented wheels real set it off don't ya think? Oh, and that's a yellow C4-C5 conversion car behind it, I got more pics of that one too... |
two tone look cool if it is two matching colors and you do it above and below the molding line

is this considered custom.... because this would be as far as i would go with the paint on a C4. IMHO i think it only looks right on the 91-96.http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y29...o/P6250024.jpg
