Yikes! I wonder if dry cleaning fluid would work, followed by re-treating the top with something like 303 Fabric Guard? You're going to need something pretty stout to get out an oil stain that is likely set in now after one failed attempt to remove it.

Note: I have never personally tried dry cleaning fluid on a convertible top! I've used it on furniture and expensive clothes with good results though.

Stain removal!

I have had good luck over the years rubbing GoJo hand cleaner into stains then rinse with clear water. The GoJo will break up the stain on my cloths over the years. Since your top is cloth this should work. Hope this helps.

GoJo Works!!!!!

I "had" the same problem and after reading this thread I tried the GoJo and it works great. One thing you need to do is wet the top real good first. I tried it dry at first and it left a ring around the spot. I kept working it and the ring left. After you get the top wet just take a brush and stick it in the cream then "lightly" brush the spot. Then rinse after it sits about 30 seconds and repeat as needed.

Thanks 91C4, great tip!!!

BTW, my top is tan.

I love the place!!!!!!!!
