So, if the correct tires arrive on Wednesday, as promised, I will SING THIER PRAISES - otherwise, I'll be calling AMEX to dispute the charge... OTOH, these GS-2's don't look to bad. There's more tread to them than the Supercars, and they're a 300 Treadwear. Anyone care to comment on how they HANDLE? Regards, Rick |

Having come from an 04 SRT Viper which at times was like driving on an ice rink I'm sticking with the OEM Goodyears. The C6 Z51 handling is so superior I actually push my car in places that Viper would not handle and I have been unable to break it loose. :thumbs:

Tires to replace F1 Supercar EMT's for Z51
Michelin won't have the rears out for awhile. Not sure if there is a manufacturing issue or what. 4 month wait time was quoted.
I replaced the F1 Supercars with the Bridgestone Potenza RE050's. They are actually quite good. Had to set the pressure to 43 hot to get them to handle well on the track. Sidewall much less stiff, allowing another rider in the car (over 180 pounds) without throwing off the vehicles dynamics. I wanted the PS2s but not available. The Potenza's are definitely much better than the F1's in handling. What about R compound tires? Any ideas there? |
Here is a list of tires from a local tire store that will fit the rear of the C6.

I have not started researching tires for my C6 yet (base suspension and 5000 miles) but on my C5's I learned that many run-flats are not repairable. So while you might save money on the front side (such as Firestones non repairable run flat at $100 less per tire than Goodyear or Michelin), one puncture and you have to replace the tire and at that point you could have bought Goodyear, Michelin, etc. This may change with newer generation run-flats when they come out in C6 sizes. Just be sure to ask the question!

I have not used the Michelin's so I cannot compare, but the objective testing done by the Tire Rack suggests that the Bridgestones are 2nd to the Michelins. I used them on the track last week, and they were significantly better than the run flats on most of the track. The stiff sidewall with the run flats reduces how creative you can get with tire pressures, and definitely made the car more sensitive to load (a 2nd person in the vehicle messed up my lap times in a big way). Setting the tire pressure hot at 43 seemed to give the car perfect balance, and I don't think I could ever go back to the run flats after driving with these. I am looking forward to testing the Michelin's but I can say for certain that the Bridgestones are significantly better than the run flats. -Evado |
I have Michelin Pilot Sport PS2's on mine and LOVE them mine are +size though...265x30x19f and 295x25x20r...Great tires... :cheers:
