I think it's the best fender out there for the C5 platform...very subtle and covers an 18x12 with 335 tire perfectly. I think I may even be able to fit an 18x13 honestly. If you want the exact specs get in touch with Jonathan at BC Forged wheels, he is a sales rep. i don't think they have done a C5 with these fenders before but he absolutely nailed it!!! He specced out the setup and hit it spot on. I think 57 in the front and 50 in the back...backspace for the rear I believe is 8.25. Not sure where the spec sheet ended up to be honest so dont take these numbers to the bank.

Again, call Jonathan and he will set you up with a fresh set of BC Forged wheels also:thumbs:

295/35/18 rear and 285/30/18 front
Going 315’s on all four corners

Ridetech or Forgeline Z06 with 315's all around, the woman I talked to at Goodguys says they will rub in front, but they also have different wheels with probably different offsets from stock.

Discretion and the roads in my location dictate that I maintain stock ride height. Wish I could go lower...looks good.

I love the C6 wheels in black. Are they the same size as original Z06 wheels?

I have a set of stock size tires for my 2004 Z06 and would like an extra set of wheels in black.

Where did you find those?

The wheels came with the car when I bought it as an extra set for track use. They are 18 X 10.5 all around for a square set up with 315 Hoosiers R7s. I have 2 identical wheels but in silver that are 18 X 9.5 I plan to paint black to match. It just depends on if you want a square set up or the staggered width. I don't know if they make them in 17" dia to match factory C5 or to use current tire sizes.

shipahoy 06-14-2018 09:58 AM

I found a set of wheels in stock C5 Z06 size that uses the stock size tires of which I have an extra set.

Thanks.

Nice. Is your car red or black? The color combo on those wheels is a nice look.

I am going to have the original wheels repolished and then mount my extra set of tires on them. Nice to have two sets of wheels to choose from.

Forum rules state if you are going to post items for sale you MUST list a price. Please edit your post and state the price for the wheels. Thank you.

I apologize for starting the whole wheel issue. I totally misread your post and thought you had an extra set. I realized now that wasn't the case. Didn't mean it to escalate into something bigger.

Really sorry.

my attempt at humor has failed. I found it amusing that shipahoy repeatedly stated his wheels were not for sale so I compounded on his post by teasing that the wheels were for sale. I'm guessing that people reached out to shipahoy to buy his wheels and he was just putting it out there that they are not for sale. I'm guessing he didn't catch my humor. He won't read this because I'm on his ignore list. I'll try to be a better forum member.

Well since I some-how didn't make top 10 for c5 of the year because I dont hard park my car in a driveway for pictures once a year, I'll just post here and say hi 😁 (Yes, Im salty cause puritans always ruin everything)

Thank you for your service. And that's driving the car like it's meant to be driven.

The contest rules said to submit one picture. So, because people submitted one good picture of their car, it means they just "hard-park" for pictures once a year? That doesn't even make any sense. What do you feel makes your car "Top 10" worthy? There are a LOT of nice C5s on this site.

What? Im talking about the pics that did make top 10 of their stock, plain c5 sitting in the driveway. What's special about that? The title for "of the year" means someone did something different and stood out from the rest. You dont make employee of the month by just doing your job just like the rest, you make it by standing out and being better. Point is, I have a feeling that whatever mods were allowed to pick are simply purists that don't like seeing anything different done. If anything, feel it should've been up to the people to vote for top 10, not a couple one sided mods, then break it down, since it is a forum for all corvette owners. Just feel that's more fair. 🤷🏻 and yes, there are a lot of nice c5's on here, but I'm going by what was submitted to the contest.

I agree with you that seeing a few 100% bone-stock cars in the Top 10 list was rather odd. A few of the pictures were really bad, too. And HDR pics are so 2010.

What did you do to your car to make it stand out? Was that the picture you submitted? I see an aftermarket hood.

Agreed.

Glad to see both tbrent and c5vetteguy in the lead. Both have nicely-modified cars.

Obviously the custom hood, interior is done with a half cage, sparco seats, harnesses, custom bezel, soon custom/jf customs interior, as far as mods, just kooks headers, texasspeed cam, blackwing intake, tune, custom exhaust, btr valve springs, and bilstein shocks w/lowering bolts. I know thats about average, but the competition was about pictures, not mods lol, which at least from all the compliments and neck breaks i get, i stand out at least a little 😂

Aftermarket wheels will help big time. I don't think there is a single mod you can do to a C5 that changes the look so drastically. My previous '03Z was definitely a head-turner, too. Quick Silver is such a great color!

That's next on the list, looking at a few different options. Also plan on wrapping/dipping soon.

Revolant, I think your car should have made the top 10. There were a few great looking cars that were left out of the top 10, cars that I figured were sure things to make it. Its hard to capture every single detail in one picture, using my car for example, you would never know its twin turbo'd by the picture I submitted. Maybe opening up the submissions to 2 or 3 pictures in the years to come would give a better understanding of members cars.

oneandgone 07-19-2018 10:41 PM

I agree the voting should all be user submitted. It's a community, why shouldn't popular opinion prevail? I think it's ironic that the top three cars in votes by the community are the most modded since the cumulative 10 seemed to lean toward more subtle cars. I think only one or two are actually stock though. I see skirts, spoilers, brakes, and wheels on just about all of them.

blackmachdown 07-20-2018 12:46 PM

I'm pretty salty too, but once I realized the this website's (corvetteforum) demographics, it makes sense. Its just like going to judged corvette car shows, stock cars with no miles win the stock class, and gaudy overdone cars win the modified class. Now with that being said I am happy that some of the well modified c5's on this site are in the lead!

They are not bad. Got enough grip to have fun at track days and don't seem to wear too fast. I'd buy another set for sure.

Would love the new C8 mid engine when it comes out but to me the next best thing is these C5 Z06’s. Great cars everyone!

Ol trusty. Meguiars M105 and 205

orange hexlogic pad for the 105 and a black finishing pad from harbor freight for the 205 on a Porter Cable. I didn't see any difference under LED or halogen lights between the 105 and 205. Probably should have used a better pad for the 205. Previous owner must have taken it to a few bikini washes because there are some very deep scratches that the 105 just couldn't get out. Overall I'm happy with it.

What is your go-to chemical and pad?

I am a huge fan of Poorboy's World products. Hard to beat the performance/value ratio. They all smell good, too. LOL! I recently went over my car with this line-up: SSR-2.5 medium polish (smells like bubblegum) with a Buff & Shine orange light cutting pad, followed by SSR-1.0 light polish (smells like lemon cake) with a Buff & Shine green medium polishing pad. That combo took out everything but deeper scratches. I finished with a coat of the Black Hole show glaze (smells like grape soda) and the Natty's Red liquid carnauba wax (smells like strawberry shortcake) with red waxing pads. The smell of these things alone is worth using them.

I did pretty well at removing a few random deeper scratches with Meguiar's Ultimate Compound and a Buff & Shine microfiber cutting pad. Ultimate works as well as the M105 with less dust.

You know, I don't drive my car at night that much, so I never really look at my lights. Well, I was putting my car in the garage last night, and amazed myself when I unlocked it with the fob. The approach lights almost lit up my whole street. These are obviously LED bulb replacements, but all my lenses are tinted and cleared. I didn't expect them to be THAT bright. That makes me happy, because I was worried when getting the lenses tinted. Guess I have nothing to worry about. LOL
