I have 2 identical wheels but in silver that are 18 X 9.5 I plan to paint black to match. It just depends on if you want a square set up or the staggered width. I don't know if they make them in 17" dia to match factory C5 or to use current tire sizes.

The contest rules said to submit one picture. So, because people submitted one good picture of their car, it means they just "hard-park" for pictures once a year? That doesn't even make any sense. What do you feel makes your car "Top 10" worthy? There are a LOT of nice C5s on this site.

What? Im talking about the pics that did make top 10 of their stock, plain c5 sitting in the driveway. What's special about that? The title for "of the year" means someone did something different and stood out from the rest. You dont make employee of the month by just doing your job just like the rest, you make it by standing out and being better.
What did you do to your car to make it stand out? Was that the picture you submitted? I see an aftermarket hood. |

https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.cor...e354dd6c61.jpg Revolant, I think your car should have made the top 10. There were a few great looking cars that were left out of the top 10, cars that I figured were sure things to make it. Its hard to capture every single detail in one picture, using my car for example, you would never know its twin turbo'd by the picture I submitted. Maybe opening up the submissions to 2 or 3 pictures in the years to come would give a better understanding of members cars. |
I agree the voting should all be user submitted. It's a community, why shouldn't popular opinion prevail? I think it's ironic that the top three cars in votes by the community are the most modded since the cumulative 10 seemed to lean toward more subtle cars. I think only one or two are actually stock though. I see skirts, spoilers, brakes, and wheels on just about all of them.
|
I'm pretty salty too, but once I realized the this website's (corvetteforum) demographics, it makes sense. Its just like going to judged corvette car shows, stock cars with no miles win the stock class, and gaudy overdone cars win the modified class. Now with that being said I am happy that some of the well modified c5's on this site are in the lead!

Would love the new C8 mid engine when it comes out but to me the next best thing is these C5 Z06’s. Great cars everyone! |

https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.cor...ee1bb02901.jpg I did pretty well at removing a few random deeper scratches with Meguiar's Ultimate Compound and a Buff & Shine microfiber cutting pad. Ultimate works as well as the M105 with less dust. https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.cor...af58af6139.jpg |

I am a huge fan of Poorboy's World products. Hard to beat the performance/value ratio. They all smell good, too. LOL! I recently went over my car with this line-up: SSR-2.5 medium polish (smells like bubblegum) with a Buff & Shine orange light cutting pad, followed by SSR-1.0 light polish (smells like lemon cake) with a Buff & Shine green medium polishing pad. That combo took out everything but deeper scratches. I finished with a coat of the Black Hole show glaze (smells like grape soda) and the Natty's Red liquid carnauba wax (smells like strawberry shortcake) with red waxing pads. The smell of these things alone is worth using them.

You know, I don't drive my car at night that much, so I never really look at my lights. Well, I was putting my car in the garage last night, and amazed myself when I unlocked it with the fob. The approach lights almost lit up my whole street. These are obviously LED bulb replacements, but all my lenses are tinted and cleared. I didn't expect them to be THAT bright. That makes me happy, because I was worried when getting the lenses tinted. Guess I have nothing to worry about. LOL
