Saw the new ZO6 up close and personal!
 

Saw the new C7 ZO6 for the first time...actually it was the first public unveiling outdoors. Damn thing looks great! The rear center part of the wing/spoiler/lip is adjustable. It has slots in it for height adjustment. Very cool.

Oh, the unveiling was at the Emelia Island Concours d'Elegance show. We went up for a few days to check out the scene. It was ridiculous! Damn!

I am still getting used to it. I like the different tail lights on the ZO6...they are growing on me! The more I see the C7's, the more I like them. The front splitter/valance is also much nicer IMO on the Z than the base C7.


I, obviously am a fan of the C6, however, I am kinda excited to see what this new generation will do/bring to the table. Can't wait for a real road test/review.

The side of the new Z06 is damn sexy. Love the treatment of the rear intake and rockers and splitters.

Really make the car "light up".

Gene, the pics don't do the color justice. In the sunlight the metallic popped! It was really a great color. Wish the pics could show more! The pics make it look nice...see it in person and you are like WOW!

No reason for the senior citizens to complain about the ride height of this thing.....looks like you could clear a small child with it.

Get some dark/gunmetal/ matte black wheels and that cars a home run!

Couldn't disagree more. The pearl nickel wheels are beautiful and actually enhance the looks of the car rather than black wheels that just fade away into the background.

On a side note, for those that really like the pearl nickel finish wheels you can get that on any current wheel. It is better known as Hyper Silver powdercoat. A 3-part process: black + silver + clear. I had it applied to my (originally) matte gray TSW Nurburgrings. HS is available in several shades down to a "black chrome" that IMHO looks far better than black (matte or gloss). Also this finish runs about $135/wheel or less so in some cases it is cheaper than some optional wheel color/chrome choices.

I've always been a black wheels fan but I do agree it's getting wee bit played. If they have gunmetal I'll be all over it....if not....I'll probably just go black again. :lol::cool:

Wow. Does the suspension look higher than normal?

Since they're hauling this thing all over the place to car shows, and thus unloading/loading it over and over, I bet they have the ride height adjusted to the highest on the adjustment range, simply for ease of loading/unloading the thing.

Nice wheels... goes well with the TSG color. I also can't wait to see a Z06 in standard (level 1) form and eventually the level 2. For now, all we'll be seeing at display eevnts will be the level 3 Z07 version.

I agree with you on the exposed CF. The rest of the car is just PURRfect!

I spotted a C7 in a nearby parking lot yesterday and I have to say I was surprised at how high the ride height was. I spotted a C5 convertible a few minutes later and noticed it looked much lower.

The effect on the C7 was similar to what happens when you put over-sized wheels on a car and do nothing else. I am wondering that maybe they do put a high ride height on it to make it easier to ship.

The ride height on the Z06 doesn't look high at all to me in those pics and seems to be a lot lower than a standard C7, but then again I'm not a fan of the "slammed" look so I might be a little biased.

Imagine how many dumb broads will think the aero is a step:ack:

The rear lights look clear on this car. On the other ZO6s I've seen, they appeared smoked. I definitely prefer them smoked. I do not like these lights and the car seems a bit busy in some areas, but overall, definitely the best vette yet.

I'd like to see one in person next to a C6 ZR1.

The TSG is awesome! a great color set the lines off really well.Now black is gonna break the fuggin bank on this ride! This car in black/tinted windows! Call the coroner you just murdered everything on the road!

Leaning even stronger towards black. This color can look amazing, and a total miss at other times. There are black bits, grey bits, cf bits, brown leather. It's a bit of a hodge podge.

A no option Z06 black on black for me please. Actually, I do dig the wheel nickel coat, I'd pay for that.

:iagree: I like Black Wheels, but not on this Grey car. Body colors that work the best are Black, White, Red and Yellow. However, I have seen an Jet Stream Blue Z06 with Black Wheels and it looked really cool.

Maybe it is because the new Z has so many little Black highlights; Hood, Coolers, Spoiler, Spliter, etc.

Agreed. The fun part is the huge bucks some pay for " designer" black wheels. One has to look real hard to see a slight difference in design from the bargain basement el cheapo sets, cause they are black. At least with silver, chrome, etc, one can discern a difference, giving a different " look". With black wheels, the " look" is the same.

Exactly. Unless they're in direct light it's impossible to see the difference in design between the new Z06 wheels and the regular Z51 wheels.

I REALLY want to lust for the car, but the way it looks in pics does not have me running to put my Z06 for sale just yet.

I am sure that I will see one up front and personal at the Long Beach Grand Prix, but for now, the check book stays put.

I also need to hear one to be sure that it is better than what I have now.

Disappointed as I said before, I WANT to lust after one like I did when I sold the 2008 base couple for the 2011 C6 Z06/Z07. :ack:

I feel pretty much the same way. Upon introduction of C6 Z06 I Couldn't wait to sell my C5 Z06 and get one. Don't feel that at all with this one.

I want to love it but it has failed to ignite the passion so far.

I guess that's why it's good we all see things differently. I sat out the entire c6 generation because it just never really got my blood pumping, but this new Z06 is quite possibly one of the greatest looking cars I've ever seen.

:iagree:100% When I saw the C6 Z06 in person, I instantly loved everything about it. I wanted it so bad, I too could not wait to ditch the C5 Z06. Having seen the C7 Z06 in person, I still feel the plastic spats attached to the front fender look like a cheap solution to address the wider tires issue. This car truly deserved better IMO.

:iagree: IMHO, the C7 ZO6 looks like an after market body kit with lots of "tacked on" features like those front fender flares. I don't understand why GM couldn't have done true wider fenders like the C6 ZO6.

To me, the C6 ZO6 looked integrated, finished, and smooth. By comparison the C7 ZO6 looks to me to be a composite of last minute add-ons, like many after market "aero" or "ground effects" kits I see installed on lesser cars. :(

The C6 ZO6 resulted in a lot of after market wide body kits and conversions, as well as the Grand Sport. I wonder how many C7 owners will rush out to add those front fender flares to their cars? :D

And no, I don't have a C6 ZO6 nor a wide body conversion, so I have no horse in this race.

I'm betting A LOT will.

How else could they achieve these levels without them being "tacked on" to use your term?

Since the C7 Z06 fenders are clearly wider at the top and rear, I would doubt that the front spats would retrofit to non-Z06 fenders (without hacking them up).

I believe the spats will be the same for all 3 aero levels. If so, they could of been integrated into the fender.

Sorry if my screen name fails to meet with your approval. I've owned 7 Corvettes and been here for 10 years. I don't like all the crapola that's wrapped around the new Z. I doubt if I am the only guy who feels this way.

I think the design will ultimately alienate many of the core buyers. As of now the first year sales of the C7 will be significantly lower than that of the first year of the C6. Doesn't matter how many people like it matters how many buy it.

I have a few fiends who are Import guys (GTR, M3, Porsche etc.) that love the new C7 - their "favorite Corvette ever". As they can afford it, I asked if they will buy one they all promptly said no. Hardly scientific data but I think many able buyers "love" the new design even though they won't buy one.

But that's great that they now won't shake their head in disgust as they pass the Chevy dealership on the way to buy a new BMW or Porsche, etc. A true moral victory for the design team.
