That being said, I got a ticket about 3 weeks ago on a trip from North Carolina to Texas, in a small town called Cameron in Louisana.

There is a ferry you have to take across a "river" going out to sea, and I was first in line for that. I was not too happy when they let this guy off that was next to me first, and 4 other cars went ahead of me as well. This was a back road with speed limit of 55, and the group of cars was doing 50-55, so I ended up passing the cars over the next 2 minutes as traffic coming the other way was clear. Once I finished passing, I slowed down, to about 68 or so as the car that was first in line had sped up as I passed him and I didn't want to impede him since I hate when people pass, then slow down to slower than what I had my speed control set to.

Anyways, about 5 miles later, I start getting hits on my radar. At this point, I slow down to about 62 as it wasn't solid yet and the guy behind me had closed up the gap. I pointed several times to my radar detector to let him know I was slowing down because of that.

Shortly thereafter, the signal became solid, and I backed down to 55-56. 2 minutes later (very long, flat, straight road) I see the SUV with the lights slow down as he passes me and turn around. My turn was in about 1/8th of a mile, so I turned left onto that highway. The cop turned on his lights and the car behind me turned left as well. I pulled over, the other car pulled past because the cop pulled over to the side as well.

Officer said he had me at 70 mph. I told the officer that I thought I had been doing 62, not 70...and he informed me that an sheriff had been behind me the whole time.

So...radar isn't perfect...just saying :)

How did the sheriff know you were going 70mph because the detector should of went off if he was using radar?

Let me quote him in your quote..

"Officer said he had me at 70 mph. I told the officer that I thought I had been doing 62, not 70...and he informed me that an sheriff had been behind me the whole time."

This means he was paced by another office behind him. This particular citation obviously had nothing to do with radar.

I have the K40 360 with laser jamming and find it excellent. In my other car, I have a V1, and owned them for over 20 years, the V1 are excellent, but not stealth, and no laser jamming. V1 and K40 customer service is also excellent. I had a Passport a few years ago, and found they do a great job marketing, and their customer service was not to the standards of the other devices. What I really like about the K40, the police gun will read, error. For the Passport, it shows jammed or something else that is very tell tailing on the gun, so I am told by state policeman.

Why would Escort "report to Waze":crazy2:

Waze is free because it's crappy!

I looked at it several days and times since you posted this being curious! Your way off base if you think 'waze compares to Escort live! In any shape or form! Escort live is giving live cop alert's before the detector goes off!
Then point an arrow on the display to where he is and how far away.
Just a uniformed poor comment!

Best thing we can do is support "Escort live" as it really is a difference maker and is ahead of Just a detector of any sort! Takes the cops and totally levels the playing field! 1 user ahead of you in either direction tells you a story!

Well worth it!

Escort Live is buggy. Waze is not. 'nuff said.

Cheers.

:willy: Wase is a kids app with little help to where the cops are! Just used it for a couple days!

NOT ONE COP REPORT oh yeah it 's cool! not!

Escort does not report to Waze!
Waze is user's wanting traffic reports and many other thing's! Nothing like or to do with Escort live!

Wase is joke! Some people are so bias'd that Escort has long, long passed the OLD V-1 in tech and detection!

I have nothing to prove and use the Escort live Every single day. It is POWERFUL!

I Doubt you even have used Escort Live since you don't even own escort and use V-1.
It has changed a lot in the couple years that it has been out. Now it has a ton of user's
that really make the system improved. Even works on UNMARKED cop cars.
So you should stick to things you use and know anything about BEFORE you comment.

It adds arrows to the display telling you what direction they are down to how many feet away.

By far the best system. Some people are bias'd because it is by far the best and only thing like it.

Not buggy at all! It works fantastic! Sure sometime's the cop has moved but you can tell because you know the time that was reported.

It is 100 percent right about recent alerts that happen a few minutes ahead.

Maybe if you are out in the boondocks, but in metro areas I have found it to have a lot of cop reports. I certainly wouldn't use it as your only defense, but cops tend to congregate in certain areas, and Waze will give you some advance notice in many cases. It's also good for reports on road hazards.

I've got no dog in this fight, however... Interestingly enough, after reading Ersin's comment about Waze, I brought it up on my iPhone and found 3 LEO's reported within a couple miles of my house and all had been reported within 20 minutes of my checking. I was a bit surprised to see that because I live in a relatively small city on the outskirts of LA and was very skeptical.

I suppose I might play with Waze a bit more to see how it works while driving around but I just don't see myself using an app for that purpose as I am very happy with my K40 360i. It works extremely well but I will admit that I was surprised to see the LEO reports on that app none the less. Truth is that I've never received a radar ticket in my 20 or so years of owning K40's so the appeal of an app like Waze or even Escort Live for that matter isn't high on my priority list. I guess your experience with Waze and being in a different location may explain your results though.

Ersin,
Does the Waze app provide an audible alert when you are in close proximity to a reported LEO sighting or is it just visual on the mapping display?

Yes, it does provide an audio alert. If you are streaming music from your smartphone (via bluetooth, for example) it will mute the music during an alert (but not completely silence it). If you have music from a different source then it will totally silence the music when it plays the alert through your audio system. You can also change the voice it uses.

Bear in mind that showing location of LEOs is only one of the things it does. It also shows you hazards, traffic, red light camera location, construction, etc.

Cheers.

Waze rocks! I use it as a supplement, and also the nav works well. It is useful to know when to be on guard, as reports of LEO's makes me more attentive waiting for the Escort to indicate an alert.

Also, for those states like Cali where laser hammers aren't legal, it helps to slow the pace when you see the report and be prepared to drop the speed to reduce the chance of a laser pop.

Great to know. I will have to play with it some.

It's fun to play with. Just don't get distracted. Another cool feature is voice commands. Good luck.

Escort Live does much the same as Waze. I don't want to come across that it is junk. But many of those with the Android EL app are very frustrated with it. The iPhone version of EL seems to be much better. Give it a try if you have an Escort supported detector. It provides a little functionality free. However, if you want the full functionality you will need to buy a subscription.

Cheers.

I run a K40 360i concealed radar system so EL won't work for me. I'm actually surprised Escort doesn't allow non Escort users to buy the App. It seems like it would be a good source of revenue and would keep their name in front of non Escort users which would be a good marketing tactic. It would also increase the the users thus increasing it's effectiveness as far as marking LEO's.

I just downloaded the EL app and it appears the basic functions of the EL App will work even without owning an Escort radar detector..

After a 900 mile drive from bowling Green to St Paul, and a huge chunk of miles to go back to California, I'm not regretting my choice of the v1 at all.

Got home from my trip a week ago tonight, total trip: 3640 miles. The V1's worth it's weight in gold in my opinion. Should've gotten one years ago!
