Default Head/cam zo6 with results coming 6/13

I purchased a 2003 zo6 a few weeks ago that had most of the parts already installed. I handed headers and x a was going to get the cars tune redone this Friday. The previous owner didn't know how much the car made. I've never quite seen a setup like this so I'm curious to see what it makes.

2003 zo6
Afr 205 heads
Roller rockers
Was told it had a small comp cam. It sounds dang near stock so it is certainly small
Fast 78mm intake/stock tb
Haltech intake
Obx 1 3/4" long tubes
Off road x pipe
Borla stinger cat back

Any guesses? I was going to swap the cam for a much larger one to complement the afr heads and put a fast 92 on it but it is nice to have a good bit of power and still sound near stock. It certainly pulls harder than my old cam only 01 that made 414. I'm guessing it will make 425 the way it sits but who knows.

A well put together AFR headed c5z06 can make darn near 500rwhp (ie: correct cam and FAST) if the heads are ported. A stock 205 headed car, with a proper cam and FAST can be in the 450+ club rather easily as well. I would get a cam that pairs up with those heads. 425rwhp is leaving a lot on the table with that setup

There is no doubt a good size cam would pick the car up tremendously. I think I'm going to leave it as is for now. Just curious to see what it makes as is first.

Don't make the mistake of wanting a "good sized" cam.
You want the right sized cam.
Folks have made 500 WHP with a 228 deg cam.
Very subtle. Very bad *** when you press the loud pedal.

That's what I meant. I've heard these 205s don't need Hugh cams to be efficient.

I have a 700hp Procharged 99 Ss Camaro to go fast with. It's gone too "race car" to actually enjoy drive very long on the street. I'm trying to keep this zo6 somewhat tame so I can actually enjoy driving it to the beach and such. I am a total gear head so you never know what might happen! I do enjoy having more power than most cam only cars in a car that sounds like it just has exhaust

dyno numbers don't always tell the whole story. the real question is how does the car perform at the dragstrip.

This car will never see the track.

The car made 403/394 on a dynojet. It has a stock cam according to what my tuner saw from idle kpa

That's good #s for a stock cam. A lot od Zs are in the 355-365 rwhp range stock, so you picked up 40+ hp with headers and different heads.
