Tony Mamo's LS454
http://ls1tech.com/forums/generation...ker-ready.html

Brian Tooley's LS454
https://www.corvetteforum.com/c5-tec...5hp-630tq.html

Obviously a "race" motor would be wayyyy different than these motors. But these were built for street duty and instant tq at the hit of the skinny pedal.

IIRC...both of those motors had mild camshafts and IMO a restrictive manifold for the given cubes.

I'm a fan of the medium size cam for street cars. I think they are faster.

And ya, any ls intake sucks. I'm trying to get my buddy to buy robz motor. Lol. I've been watching his results for years. He either lies about what they do...which his et and trap back it up, so that can't be, or he knows voodoo, which must be true.

You can follow the below. This was built years ago. I sure it would crack 600rw with a FAST 102/NW 100 and a better exhaust. Great street car. All the power was in before 6,000. It trapped as high at 137+. I daily drove it.

Mods:
SDPC 416 all forged, built for a 250 shot
12.00 SCR 8.50 DCR runs all day on 93 octane
TFS 235's w/ upgraded springs 68cc
Cometic .040
YT UL rr's
Comp LSL 247/254 .622/.622 112 + 2
Comp pushrods
Comp 850-16 lifters
Vengeance max ported 92/90
Z06 Air bridge
Vararam
Seimens 39lb injectors
FJO WB
LPE intank 255ltr
Kooks 1 7/8" LT's 3" X w/o catts
Next Phase cat back quad tip
Textralia Exo-Skel twin disk
Six Speed inc. MN12. Every thing is new, micronited, cryonited, LPE output shaft
Adjustable master cylinder
Right side LPE output shaft

The rectangle port heads outperform the cathedral heads.

Depending on the combo though of course, like anything else.

150 hp to the wheels by just running 85 must be some world record

Maybe for peak. Which doesn't mean a whole lot. And this is coming from a guy who has square port heads.

if you upgrade the fuel system and injectors properly, and have someone that knows how to tune E85, you will see an average of 20-25% power increase.Note that it was a max effort pull, not the way it sits as a DD, it's backed off a bit. So this is well within the normal E85 realm. However, it is very hard to come by where I live currently so pump gas makes more sense.

I'd do a 440", RHS aluminum block with a Callie's billet crank/rods. 12.0-1 comp, Mast 285 heads with stainless hollow stem intake valves and inconel exhaust valves. Custom ground HYD roller with Morel lifters. On a tight budget I'd run a Fast 102/102 but on a baller budget I'd get a Wilson sheet metal intake...(with a fogger Ofcourse). 2" headers/3" x pipe. Spin it to 7200-7500.. Plenty to go into the 9s with..

I figure this combo would make an honest 650 rwhp NA, then throw a 300hp on top..

$20k budget for parts could easily build this..

Go
I'd buy my 388ci motor for $15K since its proven on dyno, street, and strip.
Add a Harrop ITB to make it perfectly streetable.
Put the left over $2500 in the bank.

Now you have a solid performing street strip monster that you can occasionally spin to 8500+ rpms for half the price it would cost to build from scratch.

Quick Reply: How would you build the best NA motor....for the street
