M/T Street Radial II

Seems to be the only 17" tire that is 27" tall, not 28 that won't fit, and not 26.

I'm wondering if for us A4 guys with a stall, this would be a good choice. Taller, but not too tall. And with 3.42 or lower diff, with the 4L60, would be plenty of low gear ratio.

I tried MT ET Street Radial II but couldn't hook them up no matter how hard I tried..they were better than street tires though....but the ET Streets dead hook no prob for me.... I tried other sizes as well a few times, trading around with the M6 guys at track rentals etc, they seem to run 27" & 28" tires, anything bigger than a 26" with my A4 set up basically sucks on ET, but does seem to MPH a bit better...guess I don't have enough HP to turn anything bigger than a 26"...

Ron, my experience with radials (vs bias or slicks) and having a stalled Auto is...they sux. I blow them off unless I roll out about a foot and then hit it. I guess it would depend on your rwhp level, gear and the size stall though. You could probably get them to work with the right combo.
My 410 gear/3600 Stall is too much for 26" radials. Maybe with 350-375 hp, things could work well playing with tire pressure on a good prepped track.

Although this is not the same model tire, it is a MT Street Radial II.

We are using this to replace the OEM runflats. This is a compromise tire but has been fine for the application. Only tried three easy launches so far but yielded 1.80, 1.69, and 1.62 respectively.

Gary, I was thinking the Stall would kill him from the hard hit, compared to working a clutch by the MASTER.

I do pretty good with a 26" Hoosier radial (A4 with 4K stahl). Pretty consistant 60' times once I've gotten the tire pressure right where it likes to be, usually go with 18 - 19 cold - less for the first burnout of the day...

I have a set of 28" tires but haven't tried them out yet. I have 373's, thought I'd spray with the taller tire...

Ron you may have to just give them a shot. Too bad you can't find a set to borrow for testing.

Definitely not going to disagree with you because I saw what the Brick did to a set of DRs at a well prepped MIR rental.
Great advice! Make friends with someone that has a set.

Actually, trying to find a slightly taller tire to combat our crappy track prep. Either bias or radial.

I have 2 sets of Hoosiers, so I need to sell one set. Anyway, I'll just go try the better track.

I've ran both ET Street bias 26x11.5x16 and ET Street Radial II 315/45/16 (27's). I suggest the 26" bias for best traction and ET. Here are some comparison notes.

26" bias:
hook best
no fitment issues
loses air
great traction on both track and street
handles like a boat
last pretty well
look a bit small in the fenderwell

27" DR:
ride best
rub fender liners
holds air
crap traction on the street, ok at the track
stable handling
wear out fast
look great

Love it! Handle like a boat! Sounds about right for a bias slick....er street tire. I suppose you could air them up big time for the drive to the track.

I guess I remember you trying the 27.2's. They did look good!

Been chatting with Rich at the track. Black Turbo Tech Z06 A4.....think he will run it? It's a nicly built car, I checked it out.

BTW guys. With the M/H bias tires on the front at 42psi, and the DR's on the back, car drives like a dream at the track. Fine on the street too. Steers REAL easy. But you have to remember, you have no contact patch on the front. No agressive driving of following too close. And turn the traction controll off! The fronts are taller than the rears.

For sure Rich got a nice car, he's getting ready for the track soon. Yeah I drove on the 26" bias to Portland for a Friday night (150 miles each way). They did just fine. I don't mind the poor handling to have traction.

Winters97GT used to go consistent mid 1.4x 60's on those 295/45/17 MT ET Street radial IIs with a stick... This was on a good track tho.

Ty(silvz06) just put the 315/45/16 MT ET Street radial IIs on his 885rwhp stick Z06 and dead hooks 3rd on the street which it never did on 26x11.5 bias plies.

As soon as my bias plies wear out, I'm switching to the 315/45/16 ET Street radial IIs myself. They are 27", wide and look killer... Plus they handle better then a bias...

My bias plies wheel hopped horribly on anything quicker then 1.56 60's... Took a rear diff and Trans out..

Another local guy SWEARs by the hoosier drag radial 275/40/17. His car makes 430 ish, plus a 200 shot and barely spins on the jug in 1st on the street, dead hooks 2nd.. That's a M6 C6. He went mid 1.5x on them at the track.. He drives everywhere on them.. But they wear out fast..

Ron, just change out your tranny for a clutch setup and you will be good to go with radials and bias

The only way I could believe an ET radial hooks better that ET bias, would be if the ET bias were old worn out junk and compared to a brand new tire. Compare them new and it's not even close. You make alot of power I advise against the ET radial if you like traction.

I run the 295/45/17. They hook great for me. Have cut 1.34 60's on them. No issues here.

If my track gave a ****, I would not be searching for different tires.

And, as usual, opinions all over the map here.

I'll just have the tower print me a 10.999 ticket with my car number on it and call it good.
