Default Roll cage info options

Well I keep running past the 135MPH and debating installing a full cage. I hate doing it!!! The car is a fun car and I enjoy going to the track and racing it. I dont enjoy being harrassed by the track officials. I hate both having to cut up the car and as most I hate the possible cost of the cage.

Just curious to know who is doing alot of the cage work in the NE area and what are the price options. Must have swing outs on the doors.

Just curious... How fast are you now, and do you have an idea how fast do you want to go?

I don't plan a full cage so I dialed the car to 10.0/134 and can run it consistently.

What tuner do you use? HPTuners here... If you're happy running 10's and wanna keep the mph down so the track officials will leave you alone, try using the speed limiter. It won't affect the ET much and doesn't make you go lean. The C5 electronic throttle just closes like you letoff, and the exact amount to stay out of trouble.

Speedo > Speed Limiter > ETC Speed Limiter

Yeah it's a neat trick. Took me a few weeks of getting kicked from Test n Tunes to figure it out and get the right number. With my ET Street 26" tire, I use 128mph and it makes 134mph trap. The different tire size throws off the computer a bit... Looking at my datalogs, it hits the limiter just past the 1/8 mile, then goes 40% throttle the rest of the race.

If you get a 6-point, they might leave you alone. I know a few people that only have a 6 point and never get bothered running 9's and 150mph. Wolfe Racecraft is having a sale on anything they manufacture for 30% off. I just ordered mine.

I currently have a Wolfe but I will be upgrading very soon unless someone buys this car of mine.

I saw Kyles cage at MIR and it was a work of art. My Wolfe is nice but it has 1 nasty flaw-the rear bar sits right in middle of the window-I don't know why but somehow they messed up forming it.

I have heard nothing but good things about Carroll's Rod and Racecraft. Don't get a Wolfe unless you plan of modifying it to attach to the frame. The last time I checked on them, they didn't mount to the frame of the car.

Pretty sure Wolf has bolt on and weld on. The fitting of my 6pt Wolfe is absolutely perfect. You cannot even see it from outside the car.

However, if I was going for a full cage, I'd go to Carroll's.

Are they harassing you for the 135mph or for going 9s? I have run over 135 at several places (low 10s) and never questioned.

Man our tech is strict here. When you tech, they ask how fast you're going and check your equipment. They watch all the runs close for spills and stuff, and know who teched what. Every once in a while you can get away with one, but it's not the norm. When you bust into NHRA license territory (9.99 or 135) without tech, might as well pack up. Even our trophy bracket rules say up front, that 9's or 135 is a DQ. Rentals don't count Dave, cause you paid off the tech.

I did Pinks and 2 Super Chevy shows running over 135mph (in the 10s). One IHRA and one NHRA track. Around here they are more strict on the ET than the mph. Have a buddy who went 157mph with a 6pt and no parachute. They didn't say anything till he hit 8s. Of course, each track is different.

I agree rentals don't usually count.

Well today I got the perma boot from the track. I was making some slow passes to make sure the rear and trans were okay and running consistant 132mph and getting into the limiter stop. That was with the limiter set at 128. So I added 1mph to the limiter and gave it a run and it cracked out a 136mph that prompted a warning. That kind of surprised me it went 136. So I backed it down to 126 to be a bit safer. Well the next pass the car went 135.1MPH and I got the boot.... You win some you lose some.

Oh man, that bites. Weird that 128 was working, but lowering to 126 gave you a higher trap. Maybe from the different style launches, causing it to bust thru the limiter, and didn't settle down before the traps. What I noticed when testing a 40mph limiter, and I kickdown at 30mph, it will run hard to 40mph and cut throttle. But your momentum carries you to 50mph, and then it settles down and holds steady at 40mph, all while my foot is floored.

Sounds like 125 might be on the money. Well the season is almost done, so it should be a short ban right? How were your ET's?

I was for the most part trying to get the MPH down and testing the rear so the ET ranged from the 10.4 to the 11.6`s very early in the day trying to feel the rear out some.
