I haven't made it over to the intro section today, but I just purchased up a 98 coupe today. Unfortunatlly I will have some sleepless nights waiting for the car to be delivered from Michigan to Oregon.
I'm moving from a 67 Chevelle that I had turbo charged 408 with a GT47/88 that unfortunatly beat me down from a maintenance stand point and it wasn't fun anymore. The fun part was, it ran a best of 9.44 @ 150 on a 275 BFG drag radial at 3800lbs.
Not to drag this story out, but the C5 that is coming has a built 408 with a P1SC that put down 550 to the rear tires. The trans is still stock, so I'm thinking about taking care of that over the winter with a Yank converter and some better parts internal. Along with that will come some CCW's and a sticky tire and other DTE components.

Is this something that could see the 10's?
Thanks for your time,

I'm running 11.17 ET with 465 rwhp from a 402 stroker in a heavy azz Silverado. With the right gear and stall, hell yeah you will see tens.
No problem.
What was the story behind the car? Just wondering why anyone would try to push 550+ rwh with a stock auto tranny.
You'll absolutely have to upgrade that to get more than 3 hard passes out of it.
The right converter will make a significant difference as well obviously as well as a higher ratio rear. If the tranny is stock, then I'm assuming the rear is stock as well, which means 2.73 or 3.15 at best.
With a built tranny, and atleast a 3.73 rear you should see mid 10s with good air and a 1.5-1.6 60'
I ran 10.8xs at 130+ with 485 rwhp with a 6 speed and very good D/A (-800 if I remember correctly)

550 through an auto should be low 10s or maybe high 9 with good air.
In Oregon's range of D/As? Those folks are sitting at 3,000+ in most places I think.
I'm the first to tell folks to quit whining about our East coast air, but some of these guys are significantly above sea level.

I've never actually checked the air, but it's about the best in the country. I say this because my Silverado SS ran on average .2 to .3 tenths quicker then any other stock truck in the country, with the exception of another stock truck here, and we ran within about a .01 of each other. The track sits at about 70ft of elevation.
The person who built the car ran the Nevada Silver State race a couple times with it, so the stock trans and rear worked fine for him doing that, its never been down the 1/4.
As soon as I get the car, the first thing I'm checking is the diameter of the pulley. It's only running 5lbs right now, and I'm thinking 9lbs might be more up my alley.
I was reading a lot of different posts after I put this one up to see what other people were doing, and I was very surprised at some of the 60's people were getting. Too bad winter is here

Ohhh, so you're racing on the coast, niiiiiice. 70' is wicked low.
Look forward to some reports for next season.
With a different pulley/more boost, you'll toast that stock tranny very quickly drag racing it.

I guess I'm in the minority- 500+ through a stock A4 and just over 10 passes on it so far with no issues.. 2800 stall, cooler and the 2.73 rear gears out back still.
the question is how deep into the tens can the driver take the car. saw 10.974 with my old cam 224/230 114/2 and tsp-2.5 heads with 3.73 's and have yet to see another a-4 with this small a cam hit 10's na. now run tfs and a little bigger cam and have seen a low of 10.752with alot less rw than you have. hookem up and keep us posted. good luck.
