Default Atco NJ Rental Tues 10/20

My buddy set up a rental at Atco and I now need to sell my spot due to having a car that won't shift at high rpms anymore. There are only 10 cars signed up and the price is $220 per car. Let me know if you or anyone you know is interested. Thanks.

Have someone look at it bro. Maybe we can test it on the street.

I'm planning on taking it to the shop that did the clutch install today hopefully. Right now I'm shooting for the rental at MIR and given up on next week's rental, but I desperately need to sell my spot as I have no other car to race.

Every attempt at the 1-2 shift failed, and towards the end of the night I couldn't get 2-3 or 3-4 @ 6000 rpms. I really don't know how to tell just what is what it is but my gut feeling is clutch or hydraulics. I didn't have any shifting problems before the clutch was installed.

It has to be the related to the clutch.
Start by flushing out the slave with an auto bleeder. It may be worth stopping by ECS and have Tommy take a look at it.

My guess is the master. Pretty common problem with high end clutches using the stock master. If indeed that is the issue, I recommend the Tick Performance master. I'd certainly try bleeding it first though like Rob suggested.

I'll try bleeding it first, just picked up a mityvac the other day. Unfortunately a Tick Master is out of the questions since my gf(5' 110lbs) needs to be able to drive the car, and the pedal pressure with the Tick is far more than she would be able to handle.

Pete (Huff) had the same problem last week at the track. I believe he just replaced the slave and kept the stock clutch and ran fine this past Tuesday. Maybe he'll pop in on this thread soon.

Earliest the install shop can look at the car is Tuesday, so I definitely need to find someone to take my spot @ the rental. I'll even pay part of the rental fee to avoid losing the whole $220. Tell your friends!

Its definitely a master cylinder issue. The reason the Tick master exists is because my car had the same issue so they prototyped in on my Vette.

I didn't notice any difference in clutch pressure after putting in the Tick. Nick, did you?

I have a McLeod twin with the Tick and it maybe just a little harder than stock, but not much.

I felt a difference. It was a little stiffer than the modified stock one I had. Maybe you did not feel it as much because you have a twin disc?

Jon, have you felt the stage 3 with Tick MC? If I swing by your place Saturday you can see how mine feels. Not sure if the mity vac will help me though. Did a bleed w/ remote bleeder and checked shifter and it is shifting into 1-6 rine but no reverse. Guess it can't hurt to mity vac it but I doubt that will fix it.

When installing a after market clutch it always pays to upgrade the hydraulic system...OEM hydraulic units "SUCK". McLeod also makes a good adjustable master cylinder for the C5.

I think the mcleod master is a piece of doodoo personally being I had 4 over of the years speaking from experience. Tick will help yes but Monster says not needed. I dont think it will change the clutch pedal enough to matter. Jon if you want you can take a cruise down to my place and we'll putter in. Actually what we can do is you buy it. I'll have a dyno day Nov 1st possibly and put it in at the dyno day on sunday? Hows that grab your knickers?????

I had some problems shifting at high RPMs too. I just replaced my slave and put in a RAM adjustable master earlier this week.

Clutch works fine now.

Jon, after you bleed the system, check this...

On the back of the shifter box is a Torx screw that connects the shifter with the linkage going back to the transmission. Put your car into neutral, loosen the screw and ensure that everything is lined up properly. It is possible for it not to go into reverse if the alignment is out even a tiny bit.

Good luck.
