Default Smackdown at MIR (in memory of Ernie King)

Enough of the trash talking, lies and secrets! Let's line em up and see what you really got.

This will be the 'official' thread.

Friday November 6th
9am to 5pm.

$180 per car

Full track prep on both lanes!

Guys, this is going to be expensive. I tried cutting a deal, but no go. I'll keep working. I'm going to base the price on 25 cars. If we get more, then I'll refund the money at track day. Along the same token, if we don't get 25 cars, I'll divide up the difference and collect from everyone. I'm going to open it up to all Corvettes, not just C5's.

I am also including a little extra in the fee for some prizes/trophies/drinks/food. Ernie was going take care of the food/drinks So, if anyone else can step up, please let me know.

I prefer you send me a check, but Paypal will work with the additional fee included. If, for some reason, you cannot make it, please try to sell your own spot. I really don't want to have to deal with exchanging money back and forth. PM me for my address. Once I get payment, your name will go on the list.

I'm not going to hide any costs, so here they are:

$2400 for the first 24 cars ($2400 minimum)
$100 for each car after
$1260 for track prep ($.50 per foot after 60'; each lane)
30 cars = $142.00
25 cars = $150.40

We'll also take a collection at the event for Ernie's family. I'll need help from someone that was close to him to organize this.

I can tell you, this will be one they talk about for a LONG time. I expect some really fast cars. Several will be shooting for records. I think everyone that has interest in coming are great guys. We will all have some amazing knowledge to share.

Robz will be in charge of the 'games'

Let me know what your ET goal is for this event.

Thought it was going to be around $100, this is a pricey track day so i going to have to check back in as it gets closer. Was hoping to get a tune on the car and make it to this, but $180 for just a test a tune is a lot of money. Plus I would be losing a day of work.

I am not arguing the cost...it is what it is but my car is just a lowly street car, nothing special. I'll check back in.

My original estimate was $125. That was with 30+ cars, 1/2 track prep and no food drinks. Now, I'm guessing we will be closer to 20 cars. Full track prep. Little extra for food and drinks. They will not have concessions and no place too close for chow.

I have attended a couple rentals for around $100, but they were just a single lane and not fully prepped.

I'm hoping we have a big turnout and I can give some $ back to everyone.

I need 2 volunteers.
1. Do something special in memory of Ernie (sixsdpvet)
2. Manage the food/drinks

Most rentals i have been to have been in the $100-125 range.

I understand the cost, it's just a little much for me right now.

Clemsondave I've already taken the day off in vacation to come so I will be there.

Would anyone say theres a problem with charging like $10-15-20 to be a spectator to help reduce the cost of racers??? Or is there a charge for spectators from the track already even on a rental day like this? Its going to be a day many should want to see what is done to make the runs that will be pumping out that day.

Plus if theres.... i hate to say a BEEP day with the weather and can't run. Is there a BEEP date or what would be that back up plan?

I'm working harder then you can imagine to lock down the will I have my car/run my car or will something else happen.
If I dont bring my car or something special I'll take care of the grilling if someone can bring the grill etc.

Dave,

I'm not going to run but will be there. Put me in for $100 for the cause. Put it towards food or something.

BTW: Be sure to post about this in the Northeast and Southeast forums.
Kevin

It's in Maryland off 301. www.mirdrag.com

Rules are rules, but in my experience rentals are a little more relaxed.

Hope you can make it!
