EnglandGreen "Monster" Cam Install (2000 FRC)
Just finished up my cam install last week. Spent three full days at "The Barn" with plenty of bruises, blood, and beer! Let me start off by thanking everyone who came out to lend me a hand along the way. Special thanks to Mark (stormrider), Sam Simmons, Draper Padgett, Kyle Garlough, and of course Gary (GB Vette).
Here's a couple before pics:
Now it's ready to add a little horsepower:
New Parts List:
-EG Monster Cam (234/240, 598/608, @ 114)
-LS7 Lifters
-TSP Pushrods (7.400")
-Patriot Dual Gold Springs
-LS2 Timing Set
-Lingerfelter Ported LS6 Oil Pump
-FAST 90 Intake Manifold
-Ported LS2 Throttle Body
Already Installed:
-Halltech Intake System
-LG Pro Series Headers
-Corsa Pace Car Tigershark Cat-back
No pictures of the finished product but I do have a little chart to share with everyone.
Thanks to Ed at The HP Factory for the excellent tuning. Old numbers were 340.77rwhp and 348.51rwtq with just intake/headers/cat-back. The new numbers are 410.61rwhp and 381.53rwtq. An extra 70rwhp for a few days work was definitely worth the long hours and cut up hands. It'll definitely plant you back in your seat too!!! We still have a small vacuum issue to work out so we might be able to squeeze a few more horsepower out of it in the near future.

Nice numbers Casey, especially love that flat TQ line and your welcome; I had fun pitching in and loosing a bolt or two for you in the process. Now where is the required video?

Hmmmm, interesting, u gained nothing till 4k rpm, and HP and TQ shoots off crazy from there. Also did u install heads too? bcos u took off heads from engine, u dont have to just for Cam install. Anyway i assume no ported heads or headwork u did, otherwise ported/aftermarket heads paired with that monster cam u would be close to or over 450 Whp.
Please post video clip, i am leaning towards whiplash just saving pennies, as always jason and stephen treat me nice all the time, and infact jason helped me answering my questions during my purchase of Z.
Lastly congrats and here's for u doing ur own work, i did my headers and all other work myself, but afraid little of Cam/head install tho, Enjoy now.

nice results though, only regrets I got with pulling heads to do lifters and cam. is not getting some porting heads while I was at it.

I didn't find out that I had to pull the heads to swap lifters until the day before I planned on doing the swap. It was too late for me to find a machine shop to do a little porting/polishing. I'm planning on installing a set of AFR 205's sometime the end of winter, beginning of spring. Right now I need to concentrate on doing a clutch swap.

Ouch, guess I will play devils advocate here and would be pretty disappointed with peak only gains. Doing all those mods and actually losing power and drivability down low would not make me happy.

How driveable is the car? Does it do any surging?

Very rarely at idle in first gear when it's not warmed up. I usually just give it a quick rev and it clears right up.
Thanks Bro!
