Default Finally 10's!!!!!!!!!!

I've been trying to run 10's ever since I ran 11.656 back in 02 with my 02 Z06. Many different cams, heads, tranny's and diffs later I swapped to a A&A procharger kit. Again after a few cam swaps-changed out the A&A brackets for the ECS brackets and added the ECS/Alky control meth kit-i finally did it. The car is a 02 Z06, stock bottom, stock 317 heads, SW headers running into factory Z06 cats and a mild 222/228 cam. Her is the vid:

Nice run!
Was that maybe a little too much spin on the launch? What was your rear psi?
Quicker shifts (especially 2-3) & you should see .2+ improvement alone I'd think, like Rob said...

I remember how good it felt to hit the 10's with my previous vette, after handfuls of 11.001 etc... timeslips

Congrats

Here is the slip breakdown:

60.....1.614
330 4.483
1/8 6.857
MPH 105.70
1000 8.897
1/4 10.600
MPH 133.03

Launch was at 3000 rpm at 12psi in the tires. My shiftlight is set at 6500. I was thinking the car should run around 136-137 since it dyno'd at 644rwhp/541 rwtq. This is just my second time out but I know I need to try to shift quicker. I use to be able to practice on the street all day at 380 rwhp but not at this power level. I won't powershift the car-it's just not worth it for me. I think I just have to play around with shift points and maybe move my shift light so it's at eye level-right now it's on the steering column. I'm also thinking about maybe trying the QA1 adjustable front shocks. I also think I line lock would help too-so I can do a burn out in second gear and get the tires alot hotter. Gears wouldn't hurt either-right now I'm only going through the traps at 5900 rpm.

With all the hard work and time you put in, you deserve the great results.
I would run the tires at 10 and get that 60 in the 1.4x's. I know it is easier said then done esp. with all that power. Keep at it. I think your good for a 10.2 with no changes. Keep us posted.

Thanks guys, Ranger what are your thoughts about getting a 2 step for launching and the rpm to shift at? Through 1,2 and 3 should i hold it gear as long as possible or shift as close to HP peak as possible? The problem with these centri cars is that HP keeps climbing with revs. Also what are your thoughts on gears? I mean looking at my logs I'm goign through the traps around 57-5900 rpm which is nowhere near ideal-I mean the same most be ahppening with your C6Z06?

Hey eb02Z06, not sure what you mean by getting a 2 step for launching. Please clarify.

I did trial and error to learn about optimal shift points in my C5Zs and the C6Z. But if you have the dyno sheet for your set-up, you can calculate the suggested optimal shift points with a few simple calculations. Here a link to an explanation of the process. Follow the links therein and do the calculations, knowing your tranny ratios.

Regarding rear gears, I'd suggest PM robz, who's been through the gear selection process. It's tied to (1) your plan for the car's future mods (2) tires (3) driving. There are other factors he can go through with you.

I'm going through the traps only 5-7 mph into fourth gear. But as you know, I'm a stock guy, just trying to go faster by reducing the wastage in my driving. So no plans to change anything but my driving.

Hi Ranger-for the 2 step it's for launch consistency. I know you and Rob can launch at hi-rpms by riding out the clutch-I for the life of me have never been able to do that. Basically on my 10.60 run i launched at 3000 rpm-which was a good balance of wheelspin and no drop in rpm. It's just trying to find a rpm that wokrs best so figure a 2 step i just dial in the rpm and punch it then just let go of the botton! Thanks for all the help!

You didn't JUST SNEAK in to the 10's either! 10.6!!!!

The others are correct. With less spin on the launch and a little quicker shifts, she has more left!

Impressive. Congrats on reaching your goal.

I'm not sure how the 2 step works but you want to do whatever you can to maintain boost throughout the run like an auto. IMO that means staying on the throttle. I think you would be better off staying on the throttle and shortshifting than coming off the throttle and shifting at the limiter with your type of setup. Just my thoughts. I will take a few passes with my buddys car in the near future to test the theory.
I think you should launch slightly higher, at maybe 4000 and work the clutch a bit and lower the tire psi. At least try a few different things so you can see how the car reacts.
As for the gearing, I think 3.73's would be a good choice. Ideally you want to be going thru the traps around 6500+. The cold air will help get you closer. The problem is that if you go up to 3.90's to try and run thru the traps near the limiter you will likely invoke more wheelspin that will hurt et, so there is a balance. Just like running 26" tires, that will help your gearing but will be less traction over the 28" tires. So, again a tradeoff. Will all that power, gearing is a little less important. I would continue with your current setup and try and cut a 1.50 and get your et around 10.3x before making any changes. Work on the driver mod as Ranger often does. Goodluck and be safe bro.

That's excellent advise RobZ-I appreciate all the input-you are so right-leave it and get the max out of it. How do you and Ranger launch-I know you guys don't side step it but more ride out the clutch? I was going to ask you but I guess you already answered my question about Tsab's car. I can see you ripping of a 9.90@138mph!
