Default 12.58 @ 116 Cam'd m6

I recently put an LG G5X3 in my 00 m6. First time out it went 12.8 @ 113 so I dinked with the tune a bit and got 12.58 @ 116. I just can't launch this thing. It's either bog or smoke. I managed a 2.03 60' but I really want to be in the 1.8 ranged to get that mediocre ET down. I was running some kuhmo v710 is use for track days and they hooked a lot better than the street tires. Maaybe time to go 4:10's?

With 4.10's and m6 you better have a good set of tires... I would get a set of 17" ET street radials and try that. I'm sure you can get in the low 12's or even high 11's...

Your trap speed seems a bit low for a cammed M6. Especially with a big cam like the G5X3. Do you have LT headers?

116 is low? Its 8mph faster than stock with a vararam and 2 faster than my previous big camed A4 with a 3200 stall. I'd expect that to be about where I should be, expecially with my crappy out of the hole performance. I suspect our track location and atmospheric conditions are not optimal here but the gains are obvious, at least to me. I do not have LT's, I have shorties, the LT are just to damn loud for me, the car sounds PERFECT just the way it is.

PS For comparison there was a supercharged Z making 520rwhp trapping 120-122 and running 12.2 12.0 and head and cam cars here tend to not make it to 120.

The track is just above sea level, like a 10-15 ft above.

All else being equal an M6 will have higher trap speeds than an A4. A lousy 60 ft time should not have too much of an effect on your trap speed. In fact if you spin your tires your trap speed could be a bit higher than normal. A bad 60 ft time kills your ET.

Well, the elevation is not killing your mph. Was it hot and humid out?

I agree the car should be trapping higher. For instance my car ran a 12.3@115 with no motor mods making 357/359. I would think your car is making around 400rwhp which should put it close to 120 mph traps.

Who did the tune on your car? Has the car been dynoed?

Also do you have an LS6 intake and ported TB? Theres some easy hp with those couple mods...especially with a cam car. Your definately giving up some power by running the shorties too. Stock h-pipe and cats?

I agree too. If you’re near sea level the trap speed seems low. My 00 M6 coupe went 12.5x @115mph (2.0x sixty foot) with only headers and Blackwing.

120 traps here require 500hp, as I said the supercharged z as making 520 and only ran a best of 122. A supercharged viper making 620 only made 126-128 and my buddys evo making 344 traps @110 so I am pretty sure I am in line as it relates to our track.

i think his traps are right on. with a 226 cam in my '02 M6 I went 12.58 also but @ 117.6 mph on a 61 degree night. In 100 degree weather i consistently go 12.8s @ 115mph and this at at a track that i think is about 100ft above sea level.

Those are awesome tires (I have 2 sets of V700s, and I have made passes with the old set) but they are a bear to launch IMO. Grab some MT Et st radials, 275 40 17s and you will be 1.8s all day, and when you feal them out, 1.7s. If you went 12.5 on a 2.0 short, drop that 60 to a 1.8 where you want to be and you are going 12.1s. Maybe one of your vette buddies up there will hook you up. If you where here, I have an extra set you could use untill you burned them off the rims (ask MSG Huff ).

Tough track man, but keep at it and you will get the short time. Good luck brother!!!

Default just an idea

Try some Mickey Thompson drag radials some guys have made 8sec passes with these tires, some tracks have outlawed them in certain classes because they were to sticky!!

For what it's worth that track is garbage. I was out and managed to meet Ken this Saturday. The best I could manage on that track was a 13.4 @ 115 with a 2.78 60'. The problem is I was on Kuhmo SPT street tires, simply spun all over so I walked it (literally) off the line that time. As soon as I hit second though I was rocketed sideways and nearly hit the wall, so I skipped second and went to third on all my passes. I have track raced all of my cars before on a different track and all the rumors about PIR were correct, it is simply the most slippery track around here. I was watching my friends AWD cars spin off the line.

The track is garbage. I hook up better on the street than at that track. Oh ya, I have an A and A Vortech kit running 9.5 psi.

13.4 with a supercharger and 9.5lbs..aint that a BITCH! That track is pretty damn greasy but we get what we get... Mine finally hooked when we did 12 lbs in the tires, lotsa heat..then it burnt my damn new LS7 clutch! Oh well!

Not sure about the trap speed....

I have gone, 12.03@114MPH, but my 60' times are 1.7xxx and an A4. That makes a difference, not sure it is that much though.

I have several 116mph time slips... some say its low some high, all I know is what they say. its in line with my speedo though, actaully a lil shy of what my speedo says. I hear 1=2 on the 60' but I'm no expert....

Let's just go to Woodburn. I would love to drag race on something without grease on the track.
