Rvzio and Dub, many many thanks!

I like the idea of kind of committing and bonding just the front of the inner fenders to the clip and then just clamping the area at the hood surround and the rear of the inner fender. It should make the assembly rigid enough to move around but not so much that there is no play left to adjust.
This is really helping me form my plan of attack.

I had not really thought about just how important the (inner fender position is to the hood surround) but I guess it "drives the" position of the hood itself"

I removed the inner fenders as they were in disastrous condition with many cracks. They are now 3/4 of the way to being structuarally sound. A little more fibreglass work and then some VPA and paint and they will be almost as good as new.

After what seems like years I am finally getting closer to bonding on the front clip. Thanks DUB although I believe he is long gone from this forum. Working on gaps for doors,,, headlight doors, windshield wiper door and hood. This stage is way more work than I ever imagined!

Hi Pete, Great informative post, Many Thanks!!!

I have already put a new hood surround on my 72 and getting ready to replace the front clip on my 69. Getting the front clip off the donor 69 parts Corvette, took, yes U right!, about 10 to 12 hours in Ben's, Anna, Tx, backyard, LOL's! Thanks to Ben for helping me get it across the finish line, ha! Time required to do body work goes on and on. I think I could have driven to Mars and back at 70mph in less time.

I moved in the summer after a large renovation. My project drove under its own power to the new place but sadly is getting buried. Hopefully I will have time to organize my new shop and continue with the project soon! Thanks for asking
Pete
