Dupont Midcoat Adhesion Promoter
I previously purchased DuPont paint products and used their clear adhesion promoter 222s to spray over clear coat on a panel before spraying color when making a spot repair.
The local auto paint supplier stopped carrying DuPont products and instead carries PPG products. I have not been able to find a product from PPG that is the equivalent. What
product would you use from PPG?

I would not have a clue. I stopped using PPG about 20 years ago...and have not looked back.
I use NEXA (formally ICI AUTOCOLOR) and I use their Fadeout thinner along with the Basefade.
Call 1800-647-6050 and ask tech.
This is one of the numerous reasons I switched.

SXA840 is the aresol and DX840 is the gallon. That's PPG's blending solvents. I've never used an adhesion promoter, just the thinner. When you say spot repair, are you spotting in the clear also ? if so the thinners will do the trick, if your clearing the complete panel a grey Scotch brite will give enough scratch the base/clear will adhere .

The 222S is designed to be sprayed over the original clear coat. It
makes the clear coat tacky to provide better adhesion of the new
clear coat. It is not a clear coat blender
Here is the data sheet:
