Front bonding strips from factory.
How did the factory bond the front fender side panels (along the top near the peak) together? Did they use screws, or holes, to hold the panels while bonding?
I am looking at a 72 and noticed the bonding strips have holes drilled in them and grinding pattern at joining surfaces (this is viewed from engine compartment) appears newer. I don't recall the factory strips having any holes in them. I couldn't see any adhesive oozing through the holes.
Anybody have any photos? Any other comments?

If you have holes that are drilled into your bonding strips...the chances are GREAT that they have been installed by someone other than the factory.
The factory used a special jig with clamps and NO HOLES were ever put into the panels....or at least...I have NEVER seen them...unless I can tell that the adhesive is different and the bonding strips and panels were applied from some one other than the factory.

The closest thing I've seen to factory bonding operations are the photos in Noland Adam's '63-'67 Restoration Guides.
