Professionally speaking:
I do not like to use epoxy primer...even though many of the forum swear by it.
I am sure that you are going to prime the car so it can be sanded and checked out so it can be painted. Just applying an epoxy over your bare fiberglass is highly unlikely due to the epoxy primers I know of are not designed to create a build that can be sanded...much like high bulild primers.
Also it really does not matter much...what color you choose for an epoxy...if you choose to use it. Because black usually covers very quilcky. But if you are concerned about what color would show up if you got a chip...then I would go with black. But if the chip is deep enough...it will go down to the fiberglass/SMC and show that color...which is not black.
