Default A painting newb

I am going to paint my 94. Hoping I can do a jam up prep job on the car. I am starting with a little body damage to the nose. Pics below:

What is the proper technique and materials to make this repair. The gash did slightly penetrate the material. Thanks for the help on this. I will be asking lots of questions as I go through this.

I'd start with a heat gun and heat the area up pretty hot and then push on the back side working that kink back out. Hold it in place until it cools. Most of it should come out.
