im not sure about that one. i would imagine it wouldnt be that bad, as long as the shop did its best to apply the coating evenly. have you contacted any shops to see if they have ever done any? i have seen them painted before.

I have two sets that are powdercoated. No problems as long as the applied powder is put on evenly.

Dents and excessive undercoating will throw off the balance of the half shafts and drive shaft. The drive shaft can be re-balanced. But the half shafts ( as I was told by my balancer guy) can not be balanced. True or not...I do not know. But I have used him for a LONG time...and he has never steered me wrong.

When the half shafts and or drive shaft is being powder coated. The main conern is making sure that the inner dimensions where the caps or "cups" of the universal joints get pressed into the half shafts and drive shaft stay PERFECTLY CLEAN and are protected from any powder coating getting in them. The caps or "cups" of the u-joint should fit in snugly without any side to side play that can be felt. IF you feel play in the caps or "cups"...that shaft should be replaced. And that goes for the outer rear universal joint flange that bolts to your inner rear bearing flange.
