Default percent of gloss on PC suspension parts?

For those that have powder coated their A frames and such. What percentage of gloss did you use? From what I can see, the frame is about 60% and the suspension was about 85%. Is that about right or am I off? Also, did you clear over also, I heard some powder coats milked over down the road from moisture and such.

Last question, what can be used to smooth out the metal after sandblasting, like the small pocs from surface rust? Can it be glazed, sanded then coated?

Thanks,
Angelo

When it comes to getting out any pock marks due to rust. It all depends on what the final look is that you are trying to achieve. Often times...if you are goiing for "spot on" perfect. You may need to replace those parts ( if available)...and then have them powdercoated or painted. The amount of time to re-furbish a bracket or what have you...that has pits and pocks in it...can often take more time that the new part costs. In some cases you can get by with having the parts sandblasted and then epoxy them a few times and work those pits out in the epoxy...and then apply a good semi-gloss black paint to seal everything in place. But I have never filler in pits in metal that was going to be powder coated...mainly due to the owner did not want to spend the $$$$ for me to get it slick....if it were on parts that were to expensive to replace. Evidently it wasn't important to them. Usually new parts were purchased when it was the small brackets and such.

If you choose to fill in these pits...check with your powder coater and see what they recommend on using that can withstand the heat cycle during baking the powder coating.

GOOD LUCK.
