Default rear filler panel on 73

I recently bought a new exaust filler panel for my 73 from cvette cent it is undersized by about 3/8 in I was wondering if there is a way to heat this up or put some kind of flexing agent on the middle to strech or should I just cut it in the middle and add the 3/8 and glass it back together. I just hate to cut a new part. The part that is undersized is right in the middle where the license would go if I add the 3/8 there everything else whould be a perfect fit.

If you are dealing with a HAND LAID fiberglass part...Often times that is the way that they are. The area around your license plate bezel area is very PRECISE from the factory...for a proper fit. And I have NEVER had much success out of a handlaid part in this area. IT would be best to return it and buy a press-molded part...which will cost more...but they fit up much better as long as the taillight panel is still original and not been damaged.

If not....then it leads to spending time on getting that one to fit correctly. which for me...and doing Corvertte repair/restoration for a livinig...does not make sense to spend more time on a part than the cost increase in getting the original press molded fiberglass part.
